Why not? That’s what I say, many will agree and many will not but then it is down to personal preference of choice whether or not they would like to read about the latest or hottest erotic shop going on the net. Like in the description or shall I say question set out by Dooyoo themselves, the category already exist in Germany and in Italy and it does appear to be popular so I don’t really see it being a problem in the UK, that is unless you get a group of small minded people who get a kick out of trying to ruin the good reputation that has been built up for over a year by writing mindless garbage and profanities for all to see. But hang on a minute this already happens from time to time on the site in the most innocent of topics and will keep happening even if they do or don’t decide to add this category. Some may argue that a minority of users are below the legal age of consent and will have access to the category. That may well be true but if you really don’t want your child to be able to read the best places to shop for those toys that go buzz in the night then perhaps they should have a little discreet supervision, or maybe a computer in the privacy of their own bedroom is not the best place to keep it. Then after all that has been said it is a review site to express your opinions not some sort of sleazy porn site that offers free XXX pictures. The majority of its users are sensible when it comes to what they write and 98% of what I have read has been tasteful with all the *’s in the right places when needed but then that is only a few percent that have needed *’s. The other 2% are from the very few who try to stir up trouble and annoyance to Dooyoo and its users. Maybe if some sort of precautions were put in place in order to help the under 16’s from getting access to this category, such as an age verification process that give you a key code to type I when you feel the need to read or write in this sectio
n. Then what will happen to those most recent opinions that go straight to the front page on Dooyoo, perhaps the category could be locked until after 9pm and then locked again at 6am, I know this sounds like it could be impossible to do but with the wonders on new technology it should be workable if thought through. Or to have all opinions written in the erotic category sent to another page where it would require some sort of pass code. Most children these days have some knowledge of sex and you can’t tell me that all have found out from he internet, it can be picked up or learnt from many places these days, you must have noticed that some of the music being produced these days are not all so sweet and innocent, or those close to the knuckle adverts of the good old television, many children probably know more than me when it comes to the sex department or even teach me a few new things that I have never even heard of. That is why children have sex education in schools, so that all they pick up from this place and that place is given some sort of sensible and responsible approach to it, well that was the impression I was given 16 years ago. I know that many would not like to read about topics relating to sex, the internet is like a TV station, if you don’t like what you see you change channel. You don’t have to read it you have the option not to it is your choice, there is nothing stopping the easily offended from avoiding anything written in the erotic category unless they don’t really bother finding out what category an opinion they are about to read has been written in, it only takes a few seconds to look below the opinion title to find out themselves. Is sex such a bad subject? No! It only becomes a bad subject when it has been abused by one or two users thinking that causing annoyance on writing profanities for a bit of fun, but what is to stop them doing the same in other categories, it has been known. I feel t
hat it would be a new angle for Dooyoo to try but to put some kind of sensible precautions in place. I feel that a trial could be the answer that Dooyoo needs to establish in practice and not just theory if an erotic category would work. I say give it a try for a given period and if it does attract problems that could not be resolved in any way then perhaps it just won’t work, just don’t knock it before it has been put to the test. Thank you for reading, all good and bad comments welcome.

- 07/01/02 Great Opinion
Why do we have such a hang up about sex in the UK.
Maybe its because its too cold and damp to get our kit off in public.
Must do an op about those garden heaters..... |

- 01/12/01 Like they all said:-) I'm very much in favour and think it would be popular, especially with those who'd like to, but are a wee bit shy. Having bought a few of those things that go buzz in the night I'd be up for writing something about them, even though they were presents for my dearly beloved. The experience of buying them alone is worthy of an op. Cheers, Daisybelle. |
