Advantages: Gives those with choice a way out

Disadvantages: We do not always know the persons true wishes

You may be in favour of euthanasia but who really gets to decide when it is best. The person who is ill may not be in a mentally fit state to make that finl decision. If they want to die and are in a fit enough state then let them get on with it, but they shouldn't get others involved.

So now we have those who are incapable of making a valid decision left. If they have left instructions it might seem to be the right thing to carry out these wishes. But they have no way of giving that final indication of just what they really want. Maybe they have decided not to go ahead but cannot make this wish known, it then becomes murder.

Leaving aside any religious reasons, which are just as valid as non religious just more complicated, doesn't morality dictate that this person should live a life to its fullest extent. What about those cures we do not know of, if a person choices to die today but has the possibility of living for a few months or years longer, they may have missed out on a cure.

To sum up, give those witht he mental facalties intact the choice, but otherwise leave it be I am not God and neither are you!
