Let me state first of all that I do believe in a god, just not any of the gods that are the centre of many organised religions. In my opinion there are many different religions for any one of them to be completely right, even the most popular religions (Christianity and Islam) only account for about 50% of the worlds population between them. If christianity was the true religion wouldn't god be a bit worried about his lack of support?

Conversely I refuse to believe that the wonders of earth and the rest of the Universe are without the intervention of an omnipotent being. Evolution can be looked at in human terms or in terms of the universe. Most organised religions discount the possibility of extra-terrestrial life yet I refuse to accept this. Do they really believe that god constructed the whole universe just for us?

There are many theories that surround the evolution of mankind. Firstly that we are the natural evolutionary step of apes, my first problem with this idea is that there are none of the intermediate stages left alive. There are undoubtably many similarities between us and apes but there are also massive differences. Von Daniken claims in his book 'Chariots of the gods' that humans are a mix between apes and aliens and supports his claims with writings and pictures from tribes in South America. To believe this would need many human beings to make a giant leap of faith so Von Daniken's ideas are often ridiculed. Personally I find his ideas no more ludicrous than those expressed in the Bible or by Darwin. The bible discounts the possibility of neanderthals and dinosaurs yet skeletons of both have been found, does this evidence discount the bible?

The bible can be read in many different ways, many religious people believe that all the events in it occured as they are laid out. My own interpretation of it is very different. I belive that it is a book written to educate a society by installing a set of morals. Much a
s we read children stories when they are young, I see the bible as a way of educating a less developed society.

To believe in evolution I believe that you must discount the bible yet that it hard for many to do. It is a vicous circle that no dooyoo opinion can fully cover as each side of the arguement negates the other.

To put it simply I can see only three possible explanations for the evolution of human beings - Divine Creation, Darwin's Evolution or Alien Intervention. None of them should be ignored as when you really look at them they all appear equally theoretical. It will be interesting to read what others have to say about this topic and I will return often to update this opinion.

I neither have an opinion or a viewpoint from where to establish a stance in this matter.
It's not that I am totally disinterested in such matters, because after giving it my full and utmost attention.
The only conclusion I arrive at is That maybe this case should be handed over to the West Midlands Police, for their immediate and fullest attention, and a full confession will be almost certainly obtained, and neatly marked Case Closed.

Good op, although one of your less controversial ones, methinks. Cheers.

This category is serioulsy deficient. Darwinism does not suggset that we have 'descended from the apes', purely that we and the current apes have a common ancestor. My own understanding is that DNA analysis fits in with this theory.

Good op though. Certainly NO evidence for the existence of an 'omnipotent being' that some choose to call 'God'.
