Advantages: remembering happy childhood memories

Disadvantages: thinking how long ago that was

When I was younger I was a really girlie girl and loved all my dolls and frilly dress up dresses, although I still made plenty of mud pies and loved getting messy. Here are my favourite childhood toys, some of you may remember them.

They are not in order of favourites as I loved them all, but here they are:

>>Story teller<<

My sister bought me this for christmas when it was first introduced, they were story books and you collected them each fortnight from the newsagent's. They came with two binder's to store them in and each book came with a cassette that read the story along with you, and inside there was two colouring pages and activities to do. All together there were 24 to collect. I still have it today although I don't let my daughter play with it as it's a little grown up for her yet and dont want it to get ruined, it's now 23 years old!!

>>Barbie and sindy<<

I think every little girl used to have these, they were very popular even then. I had load's of accessories that went with them, I had the house, motor home, buggy, jeep and caravan, mcdonalds restaurant...etc etc. I would play for hours with these. My mum gave them away when I grew out of them and I havn't seen the accessories around since, I wish I'd of kept them now as my daughter would of loved them.

>>Rubix cube<<

Again I spent hours with these, I had the original square one that is around today, and I also had a circular one. A friend of my family used to come round and bet me 10p that I couldn't put all the right colours on the right sides, so I would cheat by going in the hallway and peeling all the sticker's off and putting them where they should go!!! He was always so amazed that I had done it... he he.

>>Fuzzy felt<<

These were so simple yet so much fun, they are felt board's that come with various felt shapes and you make picture's with them. I had a farm one and an under water one, I never tired of these and funnily enough my daughter now has one too, but doesn't enjoy them as much as I did.

>>Tiny tears<<

My lovely doll, she would cry and wee. I had a pram and accessories that came with her. What I loved about her was that I could play with her in the bath and when I lifted her out she would wee everywhere!! I was so fascinated, I'm a real classy bird!!!

>>Girls world styling head<<

I would dream of being a hairdresser with this, I would pamper her for ages. She had long blonde hair and I alway's remember she had a funny plastic smell. It came with make up that I could apply to the head or myself and hair grips, it was loads of fun.

>>Guess who<<

This is still around today, although it is slightly improved since I owned it. I always used to like to have the red card. I would try to cheat by making sure I knew the cards that were selected, I would only give a choice of two for the opponent to select, but I never had a good memory and used to get it wrong!!

>>BC hand puppet<<

BC used to be a puppet that came on with the anglia evening news, along side patrick's pantry. BC used to help read birthday card's and up to mischief, When he was on the tv I would put my hand puppet on and mimic his movements, Couldn't wait for him to appear, I loved him.

Well there are my selection, I hope it bought back memories for some of you, it certainly did me.

Summary: some are still around now, so still very popular.

BC! there's a blast from the past. Last time I saw him was at theh Norfolk Show (his home is norwich) with Helen McDermott. Think I was about 6 years old!
