Advantages: Many to me as a child
Disadvantages: Wish life could be that simple again!
I can't believe that this is my 100th review! To celebrate I thought I would take a trip down memory lane and remember my favourite toys as a child.
I was born in the late 1970's so most of these toys are from the 1980's.
Cabbage Patch Kid
------------------------
These soft dolls were all the rage when I was a kid and I was one of the lucky ones to have one! Mine was a little boy with short blonde curly hair and dungarees.
These dolls were available as boys and girls and many different styles. They came complete with thier own nappy and a Cabbage Patch logo tattooed on their bum!
I remember my older brother telling me that if I didn't look after him the Cabbage Patch police would come and take him away from me! I was terrified!
Space Hopper
----------------------
This was a giant inflatable ball with two handle on the top for you to hold onto whilst you sat on the hopper and bounced away! They were bright orange with a strange face painted on the front. I had great fun with these, especially racing with my friends on them!
As far as I'm aware you can still buy these!
Gloworms & Globugs
-------------------------
I had quite a few of these little plastic creatures! They were small plastic bugs and worms that came with thier own little sleeping bag. There were many different ones to collect, all with cute adorable faces.
The main attraction was the fact that they glowed in the dark! I spent many an hour as a child holding them up to the lightbulbs to give them a bit of extra charge!
Sooty
-------
I am sure many of us remember the puppets Sooty, Sweep and Sue. From memory the only one that used to talk was Sue!
Sooty was a little magician and I had a teddy of him complete with black cape and wand! I used to pretend to cast spells on my little brother with him!
Football
----------
I was a bit of a tomboy when I was younger and loved nothing more than playing a bit of football with my friends. I was even captain of the football team at primary school, much to the disgust of man of the boys!
I remember also collecting football stickers and swapping them in the playground. We were all after the shiny silver ones!
Mountain bike
-----------------
Me and my younger brother used to cycle everywhere when we were kids! We loved our bikes and it gave us the freedom and independance to go and see our friends or just go out on a long bike ride over the downs.
I remember our parents buying us 'Tufftop' cycle helmets which were basically big lumps of polystyrene which made you look like a mushroom! My brother and I used to cycle up the drive with them on then hide them in a hedge somewhere until we got back!
Speak & Spell and Speak & Math
----------------------------------------
These were to me the most modern toys of my childhood. They were basically small computers with a digital display. They had a keyboard on the front and very computerized voice that spoke your input!
The game would say a word and you had to spell it, the same would be for maths calcuations on the other machine. I remember the spell game being bright orang and the maths one grey I think. I can still hear that electronic voice in my head now just thinking about these games, scarred for life!!
Ahh, the memories!
Summary: A blast from the past!
