Feedback and General Suggestions for dooyoo

Advantages: Community feel is still there!, Best op site around., Very addictive.

Disadvantages: Members giving up in droves, There is a feeling that we are becoming a feeder site for the Germans., Last few days have been a pain in the ass.

For a few days at least, I have been thinking about writing an op about how all you long serving members of Dooyoo need to accept the fact that the old Dooyoo id gone, and to try and see what the new Dooyoo can become. That is, at least, until the last couple of days...

For those of you who care, a relative and dear friend of mine has spent the last few days in intensive care with Menengitis, and therefore I have not been as active as when I first joined. Thank the Lord, my cousin has made a full recovery, and I am very much back into the Dooyoo spirit. If you are wondering why I have not rated your op for a while, this is why, and I apologise and promise to try to recompense ASAP.

Before I begin, let me state the following. I am a new member of Dooyoo, in comparison to many of you. I have no idea how much better the old site was in comparison to "Aurora", but what I do know is thus- Dooyoo is alive and kicking in the most important aspect of it: the community spirit. I have now written 20 ops, and have had 600+ reads. My last op, which I flogged massively in an attempt to get reads, did get reads, and comments, and I have even received a piece of shiny headwear!!!(thanks to those who nominated me for a crown, by the way!) for one of my most recent ops.

As far as I can see, the problem with Dooyoo lies with the present members. Now I accept that this is going to cause critisism to fly my way, but hear me out. There are people like me joining Dooyoo every day, and trying to write on a regular basis. I think that I was lucky-several members responded to my rather poor first op, which gave me more motivation to keep rating and writing. I think that I am in the minority, though.

When members left me comments, it spurred me on to write more and become more active on the site. However, as I discovered the site futher, it became apparent that some new writers were not receiving the same welcome I received. I checke

d out some ops on Dooyoo itself, and found that many members were severely pissed off with the way things have changed, and indeed many people leaving in droves for other sites, such as Ciao(a dirty word here, apparently)

In short- if exising members spent as much time encouraging new members to become more active as oppose to buggering off to other sites, then Dooyoo would be alive and kicking despite its obvious flaws.

If you are reading this then chances are this does not apply to you. What has not escaped my attention is that from the first few people who read my opening op, most are still reading them now after 20. Thank you very much for your support. I am not going to name these people, but they know who they are- If I am a regular reader of you ops, then I consider you a regular reader of mine.

This is what I was going to write. I could expand if I wanted, but as you may have guessed by the title, I am not going to cause an all out arguement. Over the last couple of days, I have felt the need to have a go at this site.

Since yesterday, I have wanted to write a couple of ops on Dooyoo which I think people may have enjoyed reading. Having read an op by Tray on a Butlins Holiday, I wanted to write an op about Haven Holidays- a company I have worked for, and those of you who have read my Scarborough op will know, I have very strong feelings about. However, when yesterday I tried to reach Haven Holidays- a company which I know is included on the Dooyoo Database- I got kicked off!!!

My last op was about Poker. Thanks to a couple of readers, I was told to try the free poker site Pokerroom.Com. I have tried to suggest this room is worthy of an op being written(believe me, it is almost as addictive as Dooyoo!), but I still get the "Site not Responding" message whenever I try to write about it.

So OK, I am pissed off with Dooyoo now-even though it is probably only small complaints. If I cou
ld ha
ve written either of my oprs as mentioed above, this op would not have appeared. But I wanted to stay active, and make my point.

Come on Dooyoo members- there are some new and excellent writers joining this iste, and they need your support. Some of you give them it: some don't.

P.S I never plug ops in my writing- but Girlnextdoor is an excellent writer very much deserving of your ratings-make yourself known to her and you will have a perminant reader of your ops.

Dooyoo is dead- Long Live Dooyoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for reading and rating my opinion.

I know what you mean about the reception of new members. Generally I think existing members are friendly and encouraging to newbies, but sometimes the comments on a poor first op. aren't phrased very tactfully (some I've seen would have crushed me completely if I'd been new) however well-intentioned they are.

Sensible stuff in here. I've only been writing on here just under a year, and I've found it a fun place to be. Although things aren't quite so good right now, I'm hoping that it will become a more cheerful place - with the help of people like yourself! (And poor old Katie too!) Thanks!
