FeminismNewest Review: ... equal opportunities legislation including the Equal Pay Act 1970 and the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. The second wave of the feminist movement arose in the 1970s and was led by women who had been involved in Marxist or socialist movements. These feminists developed theories of gender inequalities that were inspired by Marxist philosophy. However, they disagreed with the liberal feminists over unfairness between the sexes. They believed that economic factors and capitalism adversely affected the position of women in society. ~ History ~ During the early twentieth Century, women did not have the same rights as men and traditionally had an inferior position in society. It was only after many years of campaigning that in 1928 women gained the right to vote in political elections, and the attitude of British society towards the role of women began to change. This was mainly due to the work that women undertook in the two World Wars that demonstrated that they had the ability to carry out jobs that were previously dominated by men. There's a wonderful saying that goes: "If you could see angles then it wouldn't be faith", religion therefore doesn't have to be proved, just contemplated, which is exactly how I feel about feminism. You can't prove it does any real good or has any substance but you can't argue against it as you know you will offend those who do believe in it, and because people don't believe the zealots ideology, they hate you even more to strengthen that ideology. The idea that women-as a collective-want to be equal, if not better than men, just doen't stack up. I'm sure some want to be equally and even better and I am also sure there are just as many guys out ... Read the complete review
