Advantages: credit card protection, Gets you your cash back.
Disadvantages: some credit card issuers just as bad
This is a repost at the request from other members who think this should be put in a more suitable link that will gain a much wider read. This is really for beginners and most of you may know this already. When purchasing anything over a 100 pounds use a credit card. Never use debit, cheques or pay by cash. Under the credit act you are protected and can claim your money back from your credit card issuer if things go wrong under section 75. This applies to buying online also. If the company goes bust and or your product fails and the retailer doesn't want to know, then take it up with your credit card issuer, who are liable under contract along with the retailer. This I think applies when paying by credit as well. However some credit card issuers don't want you to know this so find out which are the best ones for this. If your issuer makes it hard for you, then take them to small claims court or contact your local CAB for advice.

- 24/07/01 A v.u from me even though not an expansive op. It's good advice. I always pay by credit card for the reasons that you mention (and pay in full following statement - expensive credit normally otherwise) Kay |
