Fitted Kitchens in General
Advantages: Low cost, High quality.
I though I would share my experience of Tesco kitchens here, as there is not yet a specific category on this subject.
At the end of last year, we decided that our kitchen desperately needed a revamp. The house was built in the 1980s and we had many of the original units, and the last time the kitchen had been decorated was 1997! We had put off getting it done because having young kids we didn't feel it was worth doing until they were a bit bigger, as there was going to be a lot of mess and upheval.
I decided to get quotes from three different kitchen companies. A local company called Avanti, Moben, and Tesco. I didn't realise Tesco did kitchens, and to be honest, I thought that they would be the company I would be least impressed with, but I was very wrong.
Moben were completely out of my price range. Money was tight and I told the reps up front how much I was prepared to spend. It wasn't worth spending a fortune, as we only live on a council estate, and a top of the range kitchen would only add a limited amount of value to the house. The local company Avanti were very impressive, and we almost signed with them, but we were swayed to Tesco because the rep respected my budget and also gave the option of having other work done, such as tiling and flooring, which the other companies did not offer.
I wanted a tradition shaker style kitchen, and opted for white, panelled units with black worktops. Tesco had a huge range of styles to choose from, and lots of options when it came to appliances and accesories.
The rep e-mailed me the kitchen designs from several different angles. I was happy with the designs and paid a deposit. They sent a man to measure up, and a few weeks later, the kitchen was ready to be delivered.
Tesco use a company called Retail IS to install the kitchens. The fitters have to be of a very high standard to be used by the company, and this was certainly true of our fitter, who was fantastic. They managed to syncronise the delivery with the fitter, and a manager checked off all the items to make sure they were correct.
Fitting took a week and went smoothly, with no problems. The fitter also tiled the walls and fitted new flooring. He was an absolute perfectionist, and I will definitely use him again for future work, as it is so hard to get skilled workmen these days who take a pride in their work.
I am over the moon with my kitchen. It didn't cost the earth and looks amazing. The fitter and all the staff involved were absolutely brilliant, and I would definitely recommend Tesco kitchens to everyone. A big bonus for me was the HUGE stash of Clubcard poits that I earned as a result of the purchase.
The aftersales service was excellent, and the team resolved a small issue that I had quickly and efficiently. They offer a guarantee on workmanship and units, so I have confidence that my kitchen will serve me well for many years.
Well done Tesco.
