Fitted Kitchens in General
Advantages: GOOD QUALITY KITCHEN FOR THE MONEY
Disadvantages: POOR DESIGN AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
I thought I would share my experience of tesco kitchens with you.
The Kitchen which is now fitted is 5* the customer service NIL.
The saga of my kitchen started when the designer came and measured up for the kitchen, we got the plan and my own kitchen fitter said it would not fit, it had been measured wrongly. I contacted the designer he came back out again and re measured and agreed he had measured it incorrectly orgininally. I rang up to pay the balance of the kitchen and ask when delivery would be, the payment was taken and was told the kitchen would be delivered on a certain date. The kitchen fitter was booked for that date, I also asked for a detailed list of units to expect as we had had no paperwork at all not even receipts for the monies paid. This was duly e mailed to me, but to my horror the units which were due to be delivered were the units which made up the wrongly measured kitchen.!!
I spent most of the following day on the telephone to Tesco kitchens, to be told at 4.45pm the day before delivery that the "original" kitchen plus the new units would be delivered the following day, which true to their word they were, but then our problems began in ernest.
The new kitchen plan , which had only been received the day before the delivery also didnt fit, our kitchen fitter had to sit down and design a kitchen around the units we had been sent, plus one or two of the units were damaged.
Due to all this delay our fitter had to move onto another job, but he kindly came back in the evenings and weekends to get the work done.
When he came to fit the Belfast sink unit, the unit that had been sent was an ordinary 600 base unit, I rang tesco yet again and they sent out another supposed Belfast sink unit only for us to find it was another 600 base unit. My fitter said he would modify the unit to fit, but I said I would ring again to see why we hadnt received the proper unit.
The customer service girl asked if Tesco were fitting the kitchen and I said no we had our own fitter, and her response was that if tesco had been fitting the kitchen they would have adapted the unit to fit, but she had sourced a proper unit and it would be sent, yet more delay.
When the new unit arrived, I dont know if you can guess it was yet another 600 base unit, by this time my fitter was getting very frustrated by the delays and adapted the unit himself.
The kitchen is now finished and looks brilliant, but it has taken over a month to get all the units sorted so the inconveniance of being without a kitchen has been immense.
When I rang and spoke to the main man at Tesco kitchens he said that the delay was nothing at all to do with Tesco kitches, how he makes that out I am waiting to find out. When I spoke to him about the Belfast sink units he told me that no kitchen manufacturer supplies a belfast sink unit and they all have to be adapted, which since that coversation I have found out is a lie.
I have written to the firm and asked for some compensation for the inconvenience and stress I await to hear but I am not hopeful so if I get no satisfaction it will be put into the hands of my solicitor.
So to recap the kitchen is really good and excellent quality for the money, but please get your own kitchen designer and make sure they are sending all the correct units before you buy.
I must also add that in all my conversations with the girls on customer services, which were very many, they were always helpful, its just the main man who is very unhelpful, so please BEWARE
Summary: USE TESCO KITCHENS WITH GREAT CARE
