First of all I have to say, how funny is that picture! He looks so young! So Andrew Flintoff, or 'Freddie Flintoff' as many of us know him. Well its around this time of year when the Ashes takes up many of the headlines. And usually at the forefront of those headlines is this great man.

Andrew Flintoff is a English cricket player. He alse plays for Lancashire county cricket club. He is an all rounder which means he both bats and bowls. He is a very explosive batter, famous for hitting sixes and attacking the bowlers. When he bowls he is a fast seamer. He is 6ft tall so he gets good sharp bounce when he bowls.

The 31 year old is a great player for England, not just for his abilities but also for his spirit. He really gets the crowd going, you just feel something special is going to happen when he comes into bat or steps up to bowl. He has been around for quite a few years now, when he first came onto the scene comparisions were made with Ian Botham and they were not far wrong.

I think he has not quite lived upto his potential. He has been troubled by injuries in recent years which has set him back a bit. But every so often he does do something quite special and he is a great player for England to have in the team.

Freddie's finest moment was in 2005 when he helped England claim the Ashes back from Australia. He batted briliantly and bowled with real pace and spirit. There was that iconic image of Flintoff standing proud with his arms raised and a big grin on his face after taking another Aussie wicket.

His behaviour has sometimes let him down. After the Ashes win he was seen staggering around blind drunk whilst celebrating with his team mates. And then there was the famous 'pedlo' insident of a few years back, where again after having a few to many he took out a pedlo and had to be rescued!

But overall Flintoff is a great guy. He is a wonderful player for both Lancs and England, he plays the game the way it should be played, he enjoys his cricket and always is happy to appear for the fans. He has had such a positive influence on the game, getting many younger people involved in the past few years. I love this guy, and am really glad he plays cricket for England. Am just hoping he can keep his fitness and carry on playing for a few more years yet!
