Advantages: Shows loyalty to club, Nice to tell your mates , Can earn you some money
Disadvantages: Not likley to make you rich, Not for the hard core investor
Football club shares, an intresting investment I believe the only football club that is doing well at the moment is Manchester united. I don?t think that as an investment that a football club share is going to make you rich. If you look on the stock market the only time they move around is towards the beginning and end of the football season when there is lots of speculation on signings etc? During this time some money could be made if you can predict what?s going to happen etc? But as a medium term holding I don?t think you will do well. Long term could be a different story but only time will tell that. I have noticed that there are a couple of sites selling football shares as gifts out there at the moment. What this means is that you will get one share in your favourite club, they will send you a dividend cheque, annual reports and invitations to the share holders AGM meetings etc? where you can vote on the current issues effecting your football club. This is great for a fan who loves to have that bit more involvement in the club and feel a bit more of a part of it. I guess if enough fans bought the shares they would in effect be the ones running the club? (Interesting thought) The only serious site in the UK I have found selling them is www.frameshare.co.uk Buying shares is an FSA (financial services authority) regulated activity and therefore I am not sure that the other couple of site on the internet that do this are fully legal. Usually you would have to use a stock broker who would deal on your behalf. Like I say FramedShare seems to be the only site that looks professional and mentions FSA regulations. This is only my opinion and I could be wrong so don?t mean to offend anyone if that?s the case.
