Newest Review: ... of french lessons a week. This isn't too bad, but we are meant to spend a lot longer at home, learning vocabulary and tenses. This can get vvvvvery tedious, but it's one of life’s little things, and we must grin and bear it. Basically though, if you don't do the work at home, there's no point taking the course. Currently we are preparing for our french oral in May. This may seem a long way off, but when I realised what we had to do, I was pleased about the amount of time we have been given! There doesn't seem to be many opinions on French A Level, perhaps because hardly anyone chooses it! At my school we have around 100- 150 students in the sixth form. Only 4 (including myself) opted to take French. Strange isn't it? Especially as employers are crying out for workers with a second language! Anyway, I took french GCSE which you have to have taken really; otherwise you won't know the principles or basics which you are expected to. I have been doing french now for 6 years at Swanwick Hall Schoo, including GCSE, which I completed in the summer of 2000. I have since started sixth form at the same school, and decided that I should carry on with French at A level. So far this year I have found the course absolutely brilliant, with my course split equally between two teachers, one teaching vocabulary, and usage, and the other grammar and usage. I am now coming up to the As level exams this summer, and hope to do well. I would recommend this course to tout le monde (everyone), especially at swanwick hall school, who have recently recieved a special award for languages at GCSE.
