I was reading another member's comments about dooyoo and how the minimum word count should be increased. That is a fair point, even though it's easily possible to write a Very Useful review in 200 words. However, my problem lies with the fact that I tend to only write longer reviews about products that are more complex, e.g. electronics. Because these categories aren't viewed as much, I can write a 500-700 word review that will never even be read. And that has happened, even when I've been rating with that review amongst my newest reviews and people have read and rated my other newest reviews. This puts me off writing more on products.
On the other hand, I can write a review on Lush products, for example, and get 20 or 30 ratings in about half an hour, confirming the fact that other categories and products get neglected. Not sure what could be done about this, it's just one of my gripes.
My other gripe is when you go into your account and hit 'Premium Reviews' to view your list of reviews. Sometimes one or two of my reviews will never show up there, and I have no idea why. If I go to the category page on the site they are there, but they tend to get about one rating and then die a sorry, neglected death. There seems to be no consistency with this - I'll write 2 reviews, then the third one won't be in the list. Then if I write another, that might show up but the third never appears. It's weird, and there are a lot of reviews I've written that just don't show up for me - I don't even know if I've got the miles for them.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: I do like dooyoo overall...

- 08/12/08 I've never had any problems with any vanishing reviews! How bizarre! |

- 08/12/08 It's categories like Electronics that help keep this site going. Rather than be neglected, it's these kinds of categories that pull in the non-members (which is what we should attempt) because their nature is that these items are generally expensive and people will read reviews on them rather than review on the latest mars Bar. People can afford to "waste" 40p to buy the new Mars Bar and try it themselves, so don't need reviews on those products. People do want to know if the latest LCD TV or iPod is worth shelling out a few hundred pounds for, however.
Anywa y, as others have said, if you're seeing problems, go to the Dooyoo team (or any guide) with them. They're not going to get solved if you don't take the initiative to address them. |

- 08/12/08 It shouldn't really matter what you write about if you are rating people then they should be rating you back. I try not to do more than 1 review a day as people will usually only ever rate your last review, so if you do 3 or 4 in quick sucsession members will read the last one, unless you rate 3-4 of someone else's then they will usually return the favour. As for not getting miles, i know that when you do Speakers Corner/Discussion reviews you do not get miles for them, also Archive reviews aswell i think. |
