Dooyoo is increasingly becoming a distinctly unsavoury place to be. It would appear the egomaniacs have gone wild and dooyoo seem less and less inclined to do anything about it.

My frustration with dooyoo is relatively recent. I have always thought of dooyoo a pro-active place that responded well to the concerns of the members. However, I have become increasingly disillusioned by a site that seems only willing to act if will effect them from a business point of view.

Of course, what I am talking about is the abuse that dooyoo seem almost completely indifferent too. Dooyoo seem incredibly keen on clamping down on abuse that damages them financially. As such plagiarism and people who don't meet the criteria are frequently kicked off site or having their reviews locked at cash out. I have no issue with this and believe this is good for the site. However, there is an apparent lack of interest in any abuse that effects the member and community directly and as a site that is supposed to value it's members, I find it disappointing.

Dooyoo can create all the "dooyoo loves dididave" bits of rubbish they want. They can put me in their "dooyooers of the week" thing all they want. The fact remains I don't feel loved or valued at the moment. The main reason for this is the fact that it would seem that we should no longer be rating as we see fit. Anything less than Very Useful seems to be increasingly seen as a crime against doomanity and members seem unable to unwilling to accept anything less. This has resulted in the vilification of anyone who dares to have a different viewpoint. Members are harassed in private messages or publically until they change their rate and God help you if you are new.

Now last time I checked dooyoo was an opinion site and I am damned if I will be told what I should or shouldn't rate anyone's review. I will justify my rate if I bloody well feel like it and if you want to surround yourself with sycophants who have probably never read your review that fine. Whatever strokes your ego. If you get a Useful from me however, you can be sure I have read your review. If I comment it will be relevant to the topic and if I rate lower than everyone else it is because I didn't see what they did in the review or perhaps I saw something they did not.

Also, when did a U rate become a bad one? Last time I checked useful was not a negative word yet if I give one it is treated like I have stabbed a member in the chest. There is an escalation of people jumping on the bandwagon as members comment openly in about mes and directly on reviews as they, "cannot believe your review was only rated U, this is obviously a sad person revenge rating"...what a load of nonsense. Revenge rating is almost completely a myth anyway. How do you know it is a revenge rate? Because it is not VU like every other sheeps rate? You can't revenge rate someone U as it is not a negative rating so to jump on people for rating anything Useful is simply ridiculous.

Who do I blame for this? Well despite wanting to shake a few people and tell them to get a grip you have to put a lot of the blame at dooyoo's door for allowing this to continue. I have been a member of this site for more years than I care to remember and I have never such an escalation in blatant abuse of other members. Neither have I seen dooyoo so apathetic about it. About me statuses have become a slanging match between members and a place for bizarre political agenda. Private messages that are blatantly abusive are seeminngly not being acted upon and this underhanded cyber bullying apppears to be treated in by a softly softly approach in an attempt to upset no-one. End result...no-one is happy and nothing is resolved.

I feel sorry for the new members who come to the site innocent and wide-eyed only to be jumped on for rating something differently. I feel sorry for the guides who seem to be ignored and are being treated like Nazis rather than the helpful and constructive lot I have found them to be. Mostly though I feel sorry for myself. I sit here wallowing in self-pity as I remember a mere twelve months ago a site that I considered a site on the up and pro-actively working for it's members. As it stands now dooyoo has become what ciao has been for years, a popularity contest were nobody wins. Dooyoo has pushed the community aspect so much since the new payment system was introduced perhaps it is time to back them?

I will not be cowed and will continue to rate how I see fit. That is my right and it is one I will not be scared of exercising. Neither will I be avoiding reviews or members. Despite my moaning I like it here and I will not sit idly while the site is destroyed. The many honest members out there, it is time to stand up and be counted.
