Advantages: One of the best one-dayers
Disadvantages: Naff test-team!
But AWFUL at Test level! Why? Everytime I've seen the Zimbabwean's at One day mathces, they've been awesome! With both the Strang and Flower brothers anchoring the side they battered the West Indies in a recent one-day'er. And I don't just mean they beat them, they thrashed them! Admittedly the Windies missed chances and were without some of their better players, but the Zimbabweans were missing Henry Olonga, undoubtedly one of their best bowlers. With Flower Snr. captaining the side and Flower Jnr. behind the stumps they have solid foundations, but why is it they fail so woefully at Test level? Even England can beat them, and that doesn't say much. The only reason I can think of is lack of experience and tactical naivety due to it. When it comes to flashing the bat and clocking the runs up in 50 overs they're one of the best, but as soon as it gets above 50 overs it all goes wrong!

- 21/07/00 Exactly! But I think Zimbabwe's main problem is the lack of choice they have for players. |
