Advantages: I've done my best to spice up a generic list of questions with some original answers

Disadvantages: It's still just a long list of questions, isn't it?

Thought I'd shy away from the reviewing side of things for once and go for something a little more, well, general. Though on the whole I do despise these lists, so I'll try to make it entertaining.

1. What is your middle name?
Douglas. Named after my father, as opposed to the capital of the Isle of Man. Not sure why you would name your first born after a city on a small island, but there you go.

2. Fire or Central Heating?
Central Heating, though I'm certainly not opposed to that stereotypically cosy scenario of relaxing on a leather sofa in front of a log fire with two dogs (usually golden retrievers) asleep at your feet.

3. What are you listening to right now?
A Spanish band called 'El Canto Del Loco'. Very big in Spain, but predictably unknown over here. It's really good music though, even if you don't speak Spanish.

4. Clubbing or Romantic Meal?
I must admit that I have gone off clubbing somewhat after my post student timetable forces me to go out on Friday and Saturday nights in Manchester City Centre. And as anyone in Manchester will tell you, going out on those nights means mixing with the chav fraternity. Not an especially attractive proposition.

5. What was the last thing you ate?
A breaded turkey steak with mashed potato and roasted parsnips. Lovely.

6. Last person you hugged?
My girlfriend this morning before I left for work. She was virtually unconscious at the time, but it still counts.

7. How is the weather right now?
It's Manchester, so what do you think? It looks like I'm living in a snowglobe that someone has covered with a sheet of grey paper. Otherwise known as overcast.

8. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
My mother. About football funnily enough. How many people can boast that they can hold a conversation with their mother about football? I have a great mum.

9. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
Eyes and smile. You can learn an awful lot about someone from those two traits before they even start talking.

10. Favourite type of Food?
I'll broadly say 'fresh and home cooked'. My all time favourite dish is my mother's lasagne, which I have an unerring ability to eat and unlimited amount of.

11. Do you want children?
Eventually. A few minor hurdles have to be overcome first, such as convincing my girlfriend that it's worth the pain and anguish of childbirth (not a particularly easy argument to win when you're a man).

12. Hair colour?
Black. As in properly jet black, not just very dark brown. I really like my hair colour.

13. Do you wear contacts?
Nope. 20/20 vision all the way thankfully.

14. Favourite holiday?
Close call between Disneyworld in Florida, and snowboarding in Switzerland. Significantly less heat and character breakfasts in Switzerland, but much more adrenaline and breathtaking views. I'd repeat either holiday in a heartbeat.

15. Favourite Season?
Spring. Everything seems so fresh after being battered by winter, but it's not uncomfortably warm. I also love that feeling when the spring sun hits your pasty and sunlight deprived skin for the first time in a morning.

16. Have you ever cried over a love lost?
Not particularly over a love lost, but I certainly have over one very tough break up. It was all very teenage drama in hindsight, but no one realises that at the time.

17. Last Movie you watched?
Open Season. Got it on DVD for £1 through that Cheerios/Play.com deal. It was worth the pound. Just.

18. What books are you reading?
At the moment it's 'Spirit Gate' by Kate Ellliot, and I need to stop reading it because I don't like it. I have Jamie Carragher's autobiography to read on the backburner and want to buy the new Grisham, Gimenez, and Canavan novels in hardback. So why with so many great choices do I not stop myself from reading what is a very average fantasy 'epic'? The mystery continues.

19. Piercing?
None. I once spent some time hanging out with the 'Goth' fraternity in my teenage years, but managed to resist all the urges including piercings, tattoos, and acting suicidal when really there is nothing wrong with my life.

20. Favourite Movie?
Hard to pick one. Ace Ventura for the comedy, Enemy At The Gates for the tension, Hotel Rwanda for the gut wrenching emotion. So depends on my mood.

21. Favourite Sports Team?
Liverpool FC. Feels like I've followed them all around the world (mainly because I have).

22. What were you doing before filling this out?
I had just finished writing my review for Beyond The Shadows by Brent Weeks, which I'm very happy with. If you're bored of reading this survey by now, might as well go and read that. If you're wondering what that sound was, it was me dropping a hint.

23. Favourite animal?
Sloths. I met one in Florida once, and I swear it is the greatest animal in the world. I want one to guard my hallway, and I'm not even joking.

24. Favourite drink?
Orange cordial. You just can't beat it. Fantastic value and endlessly refreshing.

25. Favourite flower?
Being male this question has caught me somewhat off guard. I feel like having an answer to this question would somehow make me less of a man. Luckily I don't have an answer, so looks like I've dodged that bullet.

26. Have you ever loved someone?
I have and still do. And hopefully I will for a very long time. Sorry if that's a bit of a soppy answer, but I can never think of something funny to put for the 'love' questions.

27. Who would you like to see right now?
Alex Ferguson. He must still be fuming after the events of the last two weeks, and that would entertain me.

28. What colour are your bedroom walls?
White. The landlord's choice rather than mine, and a somewhat predictable and inoffensive one.

29. Have you ever fired a gun?
No. Luckily the bank clerk handed over the money without me actually having to shoot anyone.

30. Do you like to travel by plane?
No, I don't. For some reason I have no problem flying down a mountain at break neck speeds on a wooden board with no friction (that's snowboarding, in case you're not following), but travelling in what is statistically the safest form of transport just gets me on edge. I will never understand it.

31. Right-handed or Left-handed?
Right-handed. And now thinking of a witty comment to add to this. And failing.

32. If you could go to any place right now where would you go?
Predictably Disneyworld in Florida or Switzerland in the mountains. Though if a stipulation of this magical journey is that I have to also travel in the clothes I'm wearing now, I'd go with Florida. I wouldn't last long in -12 temperatures in what I'm wearing now.

33. Are you missing someone?
Luis Garcia. I miss that little Spanish maestro, I wish that Liverpool could still benefit from his flair.

34. Do you have tattoo?
No. I'm not exactly vehemently opposed to the idea of tattoos, they're just something that you have to get exactly right. I don't have faith in my ability to get it exactly right, hence no tattoo.

35. Do you still watch cartoons on Saturday mornings?
No, mainly because the cartoons nowadays are naff. Give me Transformers, He-Man, Captain Planet and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the old version, not the butchered new one where Shredder is a businessman) any day.

36. Are you hiding something from someone right now?
I'm hiding my sister's birthday present from her. But seen as her birthday isn't until May, I feel somewhat justified in doing so.

37. Are you 18?
No. I am 24. Bit of an oddly specific question to throw in.

38. What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
It's the default Orange animated wallpaper for Sony Ericsson phones. It's a picture of a bike up against a wall with orange flowers and shapes forming randomly. It's actually quite aesthetically pleasing, but as soon as I can snap a picture of my girlfriend with my new phone it's going straight on there.

39. Are you afraid of the dark?
No. The rising cost of electricity bills that comes with keeping the house fully illuminated like a celestial body scares me, so a bit of darkness is no problem.

40. Favourite Hangout?
The trampoline in my back garden. You haven't lived until you have owned a trampoline.

41. Three things you can't live without?
Just my family and friends. I could physically live without them, but my life would be significantly less interesting.

42. Favourite songs?
Far too many to make a list. It really depends on my mood. Though I always have time for Here Without You by 3 Doors Down, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and America by Razorlight.

43. What are you afraid of?
Losing the people that I love. It may be soppy and stereotypical, but it really is true.

44. Are you a giver or a taker?
A giver. I instinctively help people and seek to benefit those that I love. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem receiving presents from others (everyone enjoys a good selfish streak from time to time), but my instinct is to give.

46. What is your dad's middle name?
If you've been reading this the whole way (and if you have, I applaud you for it), you'll already know the answer to that question.

47. What do you sleep in?
A bed. Yes, I know. I dodged the question.

48. Stuck on a deserted island, and can only bring one thing?
I hate questions like this. I'd rant that it is pointless, but then again I have just spent the last twenty minutes of my life filling in this list of random questions so that you fine people will know more about me, so I fear hypocrisy in making that claim. So let's go for my girlfriend. It's a cute answer, and everyone loves a happy ending.

49. Favourite TV commercial?
My favourite commercial is one with Fernando Torres for Nike, where they base it around the chant that Liverpool fans sing for him. It's brilliant, but I've only ever seen it on YouTube. If you have even the slightest interest in football (i.e. if you know who Fernando Torres is), I urge you to look it up. Searching 'Nike, Fernando Torres, Commercial, English subtitles' should do it. It is a work of genius.

50. First thing you'll save in a fire?
Depends on where the fire is. If it's at the zoo, I'll aim to save the sloths before all else, in the secret hope that I'll be allowed to take one home as a reward. Best animals ever. Seriously.

51. What is your favourite colour?
Blue. Ironic considering the football team that I support, but life isn't always logical.

52. What are the things you always bring with you?
Wallet, mobile phone and keys. I do not own a Man Bag (Mag), so I don't have room to carry all of my make up with me. If you're wondering whether that was a not so subtle dig at man bags the answer is yes. I want one secretly though.

53. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
My father insists that when I was very young I was intent on either being a builder or 'the man who stands at the front in church'. Seen as I'm an atheist the latter probably wouldn't have worked out anyway.

54. What do you do when the alarm turns on?
Hit snooze. I specifically set my alarm to twenty minutes before I actually have to get up, so I can afford to hit snooze twice. Loving it.

55. What colour is your bed sheet?
Cream. What kind of question is that?

56. Who do you want to meet?
I'm lucky in that I've met nearly everyone on that list. Rafael Benitez, Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard. I'm very lucky in that respect, which means that I can now waste this wish on something less serious. So the person I want to meet now is Gordon Brown, just so I can have a proper argument with him face to face. Second on the list would be Harriet Harman, though I don't technically want to meet her. I just want to get close enough to her to squeeze the life out of her with my bare hands.

57. What do you think about before you go to bed?
Thoughts before bed aren't really a set part of my daily routine. I'm quite happy with letting my mind wander.

Summary: If you've read the whole thing you'd better leave a comment, otherwise no one will believe you.
