Advantages: TRYING MY BEST
Disadvantages: MIGHT UNINTENTIONALLY MAKE MISTAKES
I want to stand up and be counted as a dooyoo member, all be it a new dooyoo member but still a dooyoo member none the less. I am neither more important than the rest of the community or no less important than the rest of the community, I am an equal and i would like to be treated as such.
I am not writing this review to cause offence to anyone that reads it, I just want to be given a fair trial when people read my reviews, if in fact they do. I will be the first to admit that my first review was not that great, it was about a film that has been bugging me since christmas, it was a film that I really didnt go much on and I finally found a platform where I could let my opinion of it be known, whether it was useful to anyone else is another question, at some stage I will go back to it and edit it to maybe reach out to others, and maybe they will find it of some use, my last three reviews are alot better, they have more content, more description, more reasons for the reader to get an idea of whether they like the product, place etc.
You might wonder why I am writing this, well it is because I have been reading on other forums peoples views on all the newbies that are joining dooyoo of late, these people who are already dooyoo members are extremely hostile to the influx of new members, I understand that they are concerned with the site getting flooded with sub-standard reviews, but they have to give people a chance, dooyoo themselves will no doubt sift out those people that are trying to bombard the site with reviews just so they can make some quick money, dooyoo will not pay out to those people.
I have been reading that some members will not read any new reviews for a while or any reviews that are posted by new members, this is unfair, we should at least be given a chance, I am not saying read every review but please do not boycott us just because we are new, if you dont like what you read then just do not rate us but please show some courtesy and at least have a look.
I myself am trying to look round the site and see what others have written, i cannot sit at the computer all day, but I do try to at least look at a couple each day if I can, I do leave comments on some and i do rate how I see fit. It is just quite disheartening to read on other forums how people feel about the newbies, I have looked at some members not necessarily from other forums, and it was not long ago that they were new members, ok quite a few have been members for a long time, but some only for a few months, we dont need to come up against this type of brick wall on the dooyoo community, it is hard enough in everyday life coming up against people that look down on you for one reason or another, i have so called friends that I see while dropping my daughter off at school that look down on me because my two year old is a little excitable shall we say, he is such a loving little boy, who has a lot of energy and these people have been making me feel uncomfortable and there meant to be friends, I feel it is not warranted and neither is it warranted on here just because I am new to the site.
I do not want to cause offence to anyone, I just want to be given a fair hearing and a chance, I actually enjoy having a platform where I can let others know my opinion on products etc, and I hope that I can be of some help to those who need it. Please feel free to leave your comments and please give us a chance.
Summary: PLEASE GIVE NEWBIES A CHANCE

- 08/06/09 Welcome to Dooyoo. It's such a shame to tar all people with the same brush because of the actions of a small minority. Looking forward to reading more of your writing x |

- 21/05/09 I generally don't read or rate new members unless they've rated me first. I like to return all rates (I know, a lot of members don't agree with this, I'm not suggesting that you should return all rates, it's just the way that I do it) so often this doesn't leave a huge amount of time for me to rate people other than those. In addition to that there are certain members who write reviews that I really enjoy so when I'm going through the new reviews list (which I usually do daily) it tends to be those members who I read.
Recently I stopped going to the new reviews page because the majority of new reviews were from new members and 99% of them were awful. I know I shouldn't judge all new members on the ones who write badly, and I have found that there are a lot of new members who are trying really hard to improve, but my time online is too limited to spend it reading bad reviews. I guess I'm playing it on the safe side.
About once a week I do go through the products/categories that I'm interested and this is when I usually read reviews from new members (that's how I found your review).
Also the more a new member rates the more likely I am to rate them because if I see a member has rated a review that I've rated and I don't recognise the member I usually check out there profile.
I think that as long as members (old and new) are active in the community then they will get the rates. |
