Football, Football, Football. the beautiful game its been described as for years. the feeling we get from executing the perfect volley, the sublime freekick etc cannot be replicated

however i disagree, the old game (pre 60's)was a gentlemans game with sportsmanship etc but todays game, influenced by the italian game, is one of shirt-pulling and diving (examples are SWP and Arjen Robben)

now its the world cup we have the usual hurrah - cars going about with tacky flags on, the media doing what they usually do - try and cock things up.

the amount of money in the game is ridiculous, £21 million for this player, £120,000 a week for that player.

As for the world cup i am for england winning, with out current squad we have no better time to do it, just have to aviod the Brazilians
