The title says it all, nowadays football is used as an excuse by fans to beat the living day lights out of each other, in the old days of football it was about skill, and most fans respected the game for what is was.
Nowadays it is seen as a "fashion accessory" and if you don't like it, you're weird. This has created the current hostile atmosphere that even those in respectable professions get sucked in, such as the lawyer arrested in Belgium for hooliganism over Euro 2000, I personally think football players should be paid less, but there you go. My thoughts on football as it is today, and will probably remain as tomorrow.
