Advantages: better for them!
Disadvantages: how would the promotion and relegation work the season they join?
So It Looks like Celtic and Rangers may finally make the bold move of leaving the Dire and easy SPL to join the Premiership. Does anyone else in England think this would be a good idea? I'm delighted at the prospect! Celtic and Rangers have suffered in European competition because of the third division quality teams they have to play week in and week out in Scotland. If these clubs have any chance of doing well in Europe they have to join The Premier league. What about the F.A cup and League cup? Surely if Celtic and Rangers play in these competitions, they could both get the new lease of life that they so badly need. A Scottish club vs English club final is a tantalising prospect indeed! And what about the scottish national team. Now i know that most of the English profess to hate the Scottish but what a load of cack!! In the world cup opener of 1998 who did most of the English fans cheer for? Scotland! if some more of their players can play decent opposition every week, the Scottish national side would also benefit and Even though i'm English through and through. I would love to see Scotland get past the group stages, they're players play with so much passion and fervour that they deserve to. Maybe we could also introduce and anglo-caledonian cup in place of the charity shield. The highest placed of the two scottish teams play the f.a cup winners at the start of the new season. bit more interesting than that stupid piece of wood that looks like it's been made from an old sideboard, some tinfoil and a stolen hub cap!! I know some people are worried about the Celtic Irish/Ira connection but thats an awful reason! it's blown out of all proportion! Come On Rangers, and celtic. cross the border and give yourselves a chance of real glory and competition and let the SPL die the hideous death it so deserves!

Sexy Kay - 28/07/01 It says in today's paper that the idea is squashed. Quite right too. It's an English league. It's not our problem that the Scottish League is so bad. I disagree with northerner below. The Southampton's etc. should have their chance. It's not just about money. Kay |
