Advantages: Can be the best LWB in the world again.
Disadvantages: Still a question mark over his loyalty.
Now, many people have raised eye-brows at Glenn Hoddles recent signing, Christian Zeige. However, it is my belief that Zeige still has it in him to replicate his performancces of his AC Milan and Bayern Munich days. The transfer saga lasted the entire monthe of June, as well as most of July, and Hoddle finnaly landed him for a fee believed to be around 5 million pounds. He is Hoddle's most expensive buy, and Zeige's earnings make him the highest earner at the club. But why did Hoddle decide that after three attempts to buy the German Wing Back, that Zeige would stay loyal to Tottenham if, or when, they struggle this season. As a player with Middlesborough people seemed suprised by his more easy going attitude on the pitch, but showed his true colours by leaving Middlesborough under a cloud, for a money spinning deal to Liverpool-where he was earning two million a year. After an exciting start to the season, he was left out of the team for five matches, as Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, decided to give Jamie Carragher a run out-aand to give Zeige a rest. Zeige got quite upset by this, and by the end of the season his endless rants over Houlliers tactics seen him left out of the squad altoghetr for the final, and most important, three games of the season. But Zeige's arrogance did not stop with Houllier, after reject Spurs for the first time, he flew in to Valencia, where he demanded a staggering 80, 000 pounds a week. he wouldn't back down so he flew back to England, ready to renegotiate with Spurs. then he realised he had the chance to join Champions League qualifiers, Shalke 04 in his homeland Germany. He left Spurs again, and flew into Shalke, where he yet again demanded an extortionate 60, 000 pounds a week, making him the highest paid player in Germany. He once more wouldn't back down, so he flew back, to what seems like his back up club Spurs. A week later and the deal was sealed, and Christia
n Zeige became a Spurs player, and his wage: 45, 000 pounds a week. Now the question remains if Zeige can be the Worlds Best Wing Back, as he once was, or will he leave Spurs under yet another cloud for more and more money on the Continent.

brianlfc - 09/08/01 Yes the man is obviously greedy and his attitude stinks, being a Liverpool fan myself, I was innitially excited over buying him, but it was soon clear his attitude was all wrong and I'm glad we got shut of him...Brian...BTW, there are several typos and grammar mistakes in this opinion, try and edit them out and you'll get better ratings off people. |
