Advantages: Fresh start

Disadvantages: Same old blues

Well the season is a few weeks old now and it is much as I thought it would be. Chelsea are the same no matter who is playing for the blues we always seem to play in the same way.

Now you have to realise I look at the world through blue tinted spectacles so you must forgive me if you feel I am unacceptably biased.

Chelsea are unbeaten and have won away from home so in many ways you could say this is a vast improvement on last year, except that nagging away at me is it should be so much better. The first match of the season we were guilty of not paying Newcastle enough respect and if truth be told deserved to lose a game that we should have won. So to get a point was a bit of a bonus despite being by far the better team really.

UEFA cup we have avoided the slip up of last year and got through the first round, to say it was easy would not be fair to Levski but they didn't really cause us too many concerns.

Today we draw away to Fulham so maintaining the unbeaten start, even the Chelsea website says it was a dire game so it must have been bad, I am glad I didn't make the trip to London to witness it.

Another player sent off, this list is getting long for so early in the season perhaps the blues are feeling the pressure this year or are refs treating us less kindly than before, who knows at least it shows they have some passion while performing for us.

DRUNKS screamed the headlines, although reading the players own contrite comments the whole affair was nothing like as bad as it has been made out to be. Now Lampard suffers from being dropped from the England squad to face Greece, well nevermind he wouldn't have played anyway. What concerns me is that England under 21 captain Terry was another involved but I do not know if he has suffered the same fate as Lampard and been dropped from his squad, or perhaps he is banned due to an earlier red card I know not. If though he hasn't been dropped surely La
mpard is now being unfairly treated compared to the other players involved.

So is it sweet dreams or what?
Unbeaten who would have thought it so that's a plus. Playing well ? No they are not so maybe it will improve we usually do.
Main challengers playing well? No they are all playing pretty poorly, although I do have a sneaking fancy for Leeds this year.
Arsenal seem to be hell bent on self destruction but is it all press talk I expect so. Masn Utd in crisis, if they are roll on Chelsea's next crisis if we finish above them we will be champions.
Yes it is still Sweet Dreams but tinged with grey because reality has set in, another season same old Chelsea, cups thats what we can hope for, I really wish it could be champions but the glasses are blue not pink.

=============================================
Old bit.
--------
The sky is always blue no matter what the
weather has been for the past few weeks. Blue skies reign as I beging my trek down the Kings Road in West London. Today is the day you can feel the tension in the air.

I pick up my friend on the corner, he has been waiting for me to arrive champing at the bit and straining at the leash anxious to get the day underway.

Further on we meet Bob & his son Mark and the quartet is complete. Ever year for as long as I can remember the four of us have met on this day. What day is it I can hear you asking?

The first match of the season.

It is a day that brings with it fresh hope each year that this year is going to be our year. The term Champions for at least the next few hours could still be ours. Oh to dream of glories to come, Man Utd pah! Liverpool who???? all you others stand no chance because today is the first day of the new season and this season is going to be our season.

As I have said this has been a tradition for years and why should it ever change? The start of a new season is a new beginging f
or everybody. Past failures can be consigned to the bin, history who cares about history we are talking now. So this season will be like all the others before, our season.

Of course at the end of 90 mins reality will probably have set in and the knowledge that this is going to be like all the others. Up & down but never reaching my dream of Champions of England.

Of course we need a few pints to really get us in the mood for the game and then we make our way to the stadium, our Mecca, it has changed so much over the years. Now we have to sit and cheer, before the Shed was our home. The food has changed too the old burger bar has gone, new food outlets now reign supreme at our home. Nobody cares though it is for the game we came and the hope of glory to come.

Tommorrow Newcastle will be the sacrificial lambs as once again the mighty blues begin my dream. So tonight ny dreams are sweet for tommorrow who knows.

Perhaps this would have been useful if it had been written in the 'Chelsea in General' category, or did you only write here as you had already contributed to that section.

If not, perhaps you could ask for it to ne moved to a more suitable place on the site?
