Advantages: It works for Spain, Italy and Germany, so why not us?

Disadvantages: They get valuable experience from playing i n Europe.

Steve McManaman showed that English players can be a hit over on the Continent, and people are saying it will raise the standard of the National team if more follow his lead, but I don't agree. Look at the National teams of Germany, and Spain, who have argguably the best leauges in the World. The core of their National teams play in their countrys top division. If you look at the overseas players here like Zola, Henry, Barthez, Di Matteo, Bergkamp, they are all either past it fot their countrys standard or play for countrys with weaker leauges (Holland and France). I say for us to keep the best players here in England still, not letting them playe in the Eurpoean leauges. It will be interesting to see how Robbie Keane gets on with Inter, and good luck to him, but still keep the core of our National team here.
