Advantages: Good Performance

Disadvantages: Completely Out played at times

Ok I have just finished watching the France vs England match and I feel that I need to express a few things.

For a start Kevin Keegan has done a wonderfull job as manager and has picked an excellent squad. I was impressed by only two of our players today namely Andy Cole and Kieron Dyer.

Andy Cole had a difficult job from the start as the team was relying on him to keep the ball up the pitch (a job which previously belonged to Alan Shearer) he did this excellently and layed off the ball at the correct times to allow further progression of play. I do think though at times he looked a bit lost with out a support man as such. I believe that his style of play demands a partner upfront.
When Michael Owen came on he looked more stable going forward and did not hang back as much.

My second player of choice Kieron Dyer, what a player this man is he is quick and was always hungry for the ball but most importantly he runs at players with the ball. How many of the other players can do that from mid-field. His cross for the goal was exquisite and a second cross later on almost saw Andy Cole head home a second England goal. I think that he has shown today that he deserves an England first team chance as he could be the future for England and add the pace of play which they so desperately need.

But overall I think the game was positive for England, some players played slightly average such as David Beckham and Darren Anderton, I expected better from both but especially Beckham.

Oh and that Gareth Barry definately one for the future but he could do with a bit more experience as shown in the almost a penalty insident which I think that he was lucky to get away with.

Final Score: England 1(M.Owen) France 1(E.Petit)
