Advantages: Be seen - live longer

Disadvantages: pale into insignificance compared to the advantages

I cycle, I cycle at night, I use lights, the lights are bright, well aligned and most importantly ON.

Now that the nights are drawing in I thought I would make an appeal to all the cyclists out there to get some decent lights. It's for your own safety!

Once you get some lights follow these simple rules...

1) Switch them on
2) Make sure the batteries are in good condition
3) make sure they point in the right direction - you really don't need to wory about being hit by a) Aeroplanes or b) Underground trains - its cars you need to worry about!

To sound like some sort of old fogey...
I have lost count of the number of people I have seen cycling without lights, wearing dark clothes on poorly lit busy streets and it makes me angry. I have been knocked off my bike before now, and trust me - it hurts, so why make life difficult for yourself by riding without lights? spend £15 and save yourself.

The more lights the better.

As a keen cyclist I am very aware of other cyclists when driving,,,,and totally agree with you.Self preservation is the name of the game.
