        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Love your Vagina not your "froo froo"

I am on a rant. And I am going to rant about Vaginas.

On Dooyoo I am dismayed to see how many women use "feminine deodorants" (ie a range of products full of noxious chemical scents designed to cover up the natural smell of the vagina). Why do we fall for this marketing crap and why is there no equivalent for men? Why are women made to feel ashamed of their natural smell? So ashamed that they go and buy a load of scented products to either wear, or spray in their most sensitive area? How much of the use of these products is coming from a place of genuine need or a place of body insecurity, encouraged by marketing folks?

A healthy vagina is self cleaning. It needs no soaps, perfumes, scents, powders, talcs, glitter, merkins featuring elvis or any of the like. Unless you have an infection, then the vagina should smell like a vagina- ie sweetly musky. Certainly not of roses, jasmine, baby powder, "Always" scented sanitary towels or any of the vile and hideous Femfresh products that are designed to foster a fake form of empowerment for women which is based upon the lowest marketing technique that there is...

So here is yet another thing that women are expected to use to be socially acceptable. We need to be pretty and hairless and sanitised before we are allowed to mingle. Quite right too. After all the subliminal marketing message is thus:

" you are female. you stink unless you spray yourself with our overpriced chemicals. You will feel dirty unless you remove all traces of body hair and Fabreeze your fanjo (artistic licence of course, nobody really does that do they?) because women, vaginas, periods and all assorted natural processes need to be eliminated, deodorised, and scented out of existence. Your partner will leave you if you don't shave/deodorise etc etc and your cat will hate you"

The central message is that women are unclean. Why is this acceptable? So long as you keep a decent standard of hygiene then there is no need to worry about smell. Where does this come from?

WHAT CAME FIRST, THE VAGINOSIS OR THE FEMFRESH?

Femfresh, Always and Tampax- the scented tampon brigade, are companies who prey on the fears of women, and market products especially designed to hide the natural smell them. And yet these products are also responsible for thrush, bacterial infections and vaginosis because they affect the very delicate balance of flora which lives in the vagina keeping everything ticking over healthily. Using these products long term will make you smell. How ironic...

The tagline for the advertising for one of these products goes like this:

"With its pH-balanced formula specially developed for intimate skin, femfresh is one of the kindest ways to care for your va jay jay, kitty, nooni, lala, froo froo!

Whatever you call it, make sure you love it"

There is nothing wrong with the scent of a healthy Vag. Of course Femfresh and their ilk would have you believe otherwise as they want to sell their products. Femfresh in particular also seem to be unable to actually use the word VAGINA. There, I even typed it in capitals. Femfresh are so ashamed of vaginas that they have to use cutesy and fluffy words such as froo froo, "down there", and (for God's sake) la la in their awful marketing. This prompted an outcry from some women on Facebook who then invaded their page and blasted them for using such infantile words and for selling products that are not needed and are loaded with negative connotations. Instead of taking on board the opinions of these women, Femfresh got uppity and decided that the medical terms for a woman's bits/ lala/ foo foo/ sparkly fairy garden were "offensive to parents" ...

Taken from twitter, Femfresh posted that use of the word "vulva" was offensive to "mums of daughters".
        Really? REALLY? Wow.

It is really something when a medical term is offensive and has to be deodorised with language too.

Femfresh are not the only company guilty of this insidious implication that natural women are dirty and stinky. "Always" are guilty too, as are any company who makes "scented feminine hygiene products".
Thanks to the marketing of companies like this, there is now a core of women who are insecure about their natural smell and their natural cycles. I find this very sad.

Savvy women know that putting anything that is perfumed into or on to a part of the body that relies on a fragile system of flora/bacteria to stay healthy, is a big fat NO. We know that it can cause itching, irritation, thrush, bacterial vaginosis, cystitis.... in fact anything other than water is rarely needed to keep a vagina in tip top sparkly condition. If your vagina honks then you need to see a Dr, there is something wrong. You certainly do not cover it up with "lily of the valley with a hint of vanilla" and ignore the issue.

Making women feel making people feel ashamed, embarrassed, dirty or disgusted by their own healthy genitals is an oppressive marketing ploy all wrapped up in a box marked "liberation". Don't fall for it! More disturbingly is that Femfresh and their ilk seem to gear much of their dodgy marketing towards teens who are already usually well aware of body insecurity. Teenage girls do not need to be told that they stink and need a product to cover their stink up with.

Although the consumer backlash towards Femfresh and their particularly stupid advertising was excellent, women still buy this stuff. Often on here you see a review that states " I suffer from repeated thrush so use this perfumed fanny spray to feel fresh" without realising that said spray is probably the cause of the problem, or certainly a major factor. I hope my frothing rant changes that for even one woman who is hoodwinked by this marketing campaign based upon thin air and bullying. Yes bullying. I use that term deliberately.

Healthy vaginal moisture is not a hygiene problem that needs a chemical solution. Neither are periods. This miserable marketing campaign and those like it, encourage women to cover up and pollute the very scent that nature intended to be full of pheromones and attract a mate. Do we really want all men to believe that all women are hairless and smell of "lily with a touch or oriental vanilla" at all times?
Covering up the natural smell of a healthy vagina is not attractive.

        YOU NEED A MAP:

These marketing campaigns also do not seem to know the basic differences between a Vagina and a Vulva. But then I guess that doesn't matter when you cannot bear to say the words does it? As a woman, and as a mother with a young daughter, I refuse to give my money to any company whose advertising conveys the message that Vaginas are only to be talked about by using twee nicknames. I refuse to give money to a company who believe that the smell of chemical perfumes is preferable to the scent of a healthy Vagina. And I refuse to give money to a company that preys on women's fears, fears that have been created by the media anyway.

If you really simply MUST have a "Froo Froo" that smells of flowers, then what is wrong with the odd dab of essential oil instead of these noxious sprays, wipes and washes? The NHS recommends water only to wash the Vagina (I think that they mean Vulva), as anything else can cause a PH imbalance which in turn leads to infection, soreness and you guessed it - odour.

I am fortunate enough to know several men who have also commented on the pages of companies that peddle scented genital products, and who have objected to the marketing in the same way as I do. These men state that they love the smell of women and do not want a mouthful of chemical roses. Good for them I say. This ridiculous notion that if you are not hair-free like a plucked turkey, and doused in chemical scents, you are somehow stinky and dirty has to end. And it ends with women and the men who love them standing up and saying so. As I just have. The only thing that stinks here are the companies who make the products....

Buy British and help us all

We are all in the same boat these days, high prices, jobs at risk, shops and businesses closing. This is not really a very good time in our economic history with the recession, low interest rates for savers and a host of other problems that affect us and our families.
For years now the shops have been stocked with low quality cheap imports that are made abroad. When we go shopping we think we are getting a bargain when we buy something cheaply but in reality we are just being fobbed off with low standard goods.
A good example of this has come to light recently with the horse meat scandal in our food. I think we should all stop and think where the products we buy come from and only buy things from reputable British merchants and things that have been made in this country. Often British made products are made of higher quality materials and will last longer than a similar item made abroad.
By supporting Brtish manufacturing we will hopefully be able to save ;local businesses, jobs, communities, factories etc. Also, we as a country are losing a lot of our traditional skills that have been around for centuries.
So come on if you can, think before you buy and buy British.

I am excited to have reached 1000 reviews!

Nearly four years since I joined Dooyoo, I have reached my 1000th review! To mark this momentous occasion, I've dug out a Q&A session from the dooyoo Lounge.

            1. What is the wallpaper on your computer screen? Why did you choose it?
At home, it's a picture of Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean in the new Les Miserables movie, which gets me excited about the film every time I look at it. At work, it's the National Trust desktop calendar for January, which is a beautiful picture of Snowdonia - I look at it whenever I get stressed.

            2. Mexican food, Chinese food, Italian food, French food or American food?
Mexican - I love spicy things.

            3. Do you have any tattoos and piercings?
No tattoos, pierced ears. I don't suppose any of that will change.

            4. Do you have any siblings?
One younger brother, Chris. *shameless plug* he is in a band called Public Secret: check them out at http://www.publicsecretuk.com! *end of shameless plug*

            5. Have you ever broken a bone?
No, as a consequence of being a rather bookish, cautious child.

            6. Do you believe in superstitious things such as breaking mirrors?
There's a part of me that does - not breaking mirrors specifically, but I have my nana's wedding ring and I always wear it for important things like exams and job interviews.

            7. Do you like those 'end of the world' movies?
Not really - they're a bit dull and clichéd.

            8. Do you eat more fruits or vegetables? What's your favourite fruit and veggie?
Vegetables: seeing as I don't eat meat, most of my meals are made of them. Fruit-wise I love strawberries, and my favourite veg is mushrooms (technically a fungus, but...!).

            9. Who were you most likely to play during school nativities?
At infant school we did a nativity play called The Little Angel and I had the title role of the angel. I suspect this had more to do with my (then) pale blonde hair than any acting ability I may have possessed.

            10. What's your opinion of the dentist?
A necessary evil - no one likes going to the dentist, but I know it's got to be done, and I'm not afraid. Luckily I've had the same dentist since I was old enough to have teeth, and I like and trust him. Also, I spent my teenage years having various teeth removed followed by a three-year fixed brace, so there's very little that can faze me when it comes to teeth!

            11. Have you ever had a speech impediment?
            No.

            12. If you had to choose, what is the worst movie you've ever seen?
This is easy - Open Water. A shark attack movie which doesn't actually feature any sharks, just two people flailing about in the ocean for over an hour.

            13. Do you like meeting new people?
In theory, yes, but I'm quite shy so I also find it quite stressful.

            14. If you could, which celebrity would you date?
Ooh, this is a tough one. Probably James McAvoy.

            15. Who would you take with you on a deserted island?
Someone with carpentry skills so that they would know how to build a boat and escape!

            16. Do you know how wide your hips are in exact inches?
No, and I don't want to.

            17. What would you say is the worst part of high school?
            Compulsory PE.

            18. How old will you be on your Mother's 68th birthday? Is that 'old' to you?
37 - eek. In the words of Bon Jovi, "not old, just older".

            19. Ever thought you were dying of something you were not even close to having?
I once had really bad cystitis and managed to convince myself that I was suffering from kidney failure. Ever since then I've avoided reading about symptoms on the Internet.

            20. Have you ever wanted to be a doctor?
            No, I'm far too squeamish.

            21. If you were dying who would you say goodbye to first?
            My parents and brother.

            22. Do you like to babysit children?
Yes, if they're good, and like being read to or playing with fun toys. No, if they start having tantrums.

            23. Do you often forget where you put things?
All the time, it really annoys me!

            24. Do you go on a lot of holidays?
I try to go on one per year - not a lot, but more than some people get.

            25. Have you ever met someone with the same 'biggest fear' as you?
I'm not entirely sure what my own biggest fear is, so no.

            26. Would you rather write with a pen or pencil? Why?
A black, fine-point pen, because it looks smart and neat.

            25. What is your favourite number and why?
Seven, as it appears in both my day and month of birth.

            26. Are you afraid of being kidnapped when you go outside at night time?
Can't say I am! Who wrote these questions?

            27. Where was the best school trip you ever went on?
At junior school we used to go on outdoor activity trips to a place called Derwent Hill in the Lake District. We slept in dormitories and did exciting things like gorge walking and canoeing. We had loads of fun.

            28. Are you a controversial person?
I don't think so. I don't like conflict so I tend to keep my opinions to myself when I don't agree, although some of my views are quite different from those of family members in particular.

            29. What would you say your average word per minute count is on a keyboard?
I have no idea; I'm a fast typer but I only use two fingers so this probably slows me down!

            30. What was your favourite and least favourite subject in school?
I loved English and History, and hated German and PE. In fact I used to arrange all my optician and orthodontist appointments (of which I had several) to coincide with PE.

            31. Do you bite your finger nails?
Not usually; I have a bad habit of peeling them, though.

            32. When is the next time you'll go to the library?
Later on today, probably. I use the library a lot, and go several times a month.

            33. Do you like fiction or non-fiction books more?
Fiction, generally, although I do read the odd non-fiction tome.

            34. Do you treat others as you'd like to be treated?
            I try.

            35. What type of child were you?
When I was very young, I was happy, confident and liked being the centre of attention. As I got older I became more withdrawn and grew very shy and quiet. I'm not totally sure what happened!

            36. Are you someone who likes to get into arguments and fights a lot?
No, quite the opposite. I hate confrontation and will try to avoid it, even to the point of keeping my own opinions quiet if I think speaking up will inflame the situation.

            37. Do you swear a lot?
I do around my friends, but not around my colleagues or family.

            38. If you had to get a tattoo, what would it be of and where would you have it?
I'm not a fan of tattoos personally: if I had to get one, it would be a small one. Probably of a book or something.

            39. What's your favourite TV show?
Neighbours - I'm addicted to it.

            40. Does personality weigh out the sense of 'good looks'?
I think you need both physical attraction (not necessarily the same thing as 'good looks') and mental attraction in a relationship. The latter can overcome the former to an extent, but there needs to be something there.

            41. What is your favourite thing in your bedroom?
My laptop - I couldn't live without it.

            42. If you could change 1 thing about you, what would it be?
I'd like to stop caring what other people think of me.

            43. Do you have any regrets? If so, what are they?
When I was 21 I went to Russia intending to teach English for a year. I only lasted for three months, due to several reasons - many of which were out of my control - but I often wish I'd found some way to stay for the full year.

            44. What colour hair do you have?
            Dark brown at the moment

            45. What colour eyes do you have?
            Blue

            46. Favourite Sound?
            The sea

            47. Favourite Quote?
"In what we do - whether we act on the stage or write - the most important thing isn't fame or glory or anything I used to dream about - but the ability to endure. To know how to bear your cross and have faith. I have faith, and my pain is less, and when I think about my vocation I'm not afraid of life."
From my favourite play, Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.

            48. Favourite Colour?
            Purple

            49. Favourite Films?
The Wizard of Oz, Labyrinth, Rear Window, The Mummy

            50. Pet Peeve?
People talking in the theatre. There's no excuse for it (unless someone is taken ill, which is very rare). I wish staff were more proactive at telling people to shut up!

Thanks for reading; I'm off to write my next 1000 reviews!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

You may well spend more money than you need to on stuff you don't need

              SHOP TILL YOU DROP

REALLY? Does anyone really do this or is this all advertising hype?

In the last couple of years since i retired i have discovered that if you keep out of the shops that you spend far less. It seems obvious I know but if I went into the shopping centre I always spent money on things that seemed a bargain or were things I couldn't live without or was something that might be good for so and so. Some of these purchases were great and others turned out to be less that wonderful. I hate to think of how much money i have wasted on impulse shopping over the years.

Christmas this years has been very easy for us, not cheap but very easy. We have given hotel stays to each couple and so have only had to buy a few smaller items and toys for the grandchildren. Because of this i have kept out of the shops pretty much pre Christmas until my son arrived from Canada and wanted to buy some things that he knew were cheaper here than in Canada. I can honestly say I have not been greatly tempted whilst on these visits except by Lush of course and even then I only bought something for his girlfriend and got some sample.

Boxing Day rather oddly didn't have us all rushing for the sales. Why would you rush to the shops when you could spend the time enjoying your time with family. I do think we have become very obsessed with possessions and have forgotten that spending time playing games and sharing food and just talking with each other is so much more important in the long run that if you have found a skirt for half price.

OKAY we relented and went into the shops on the 28th and even then i only went with my son and his girlfriend as she wanted to buy some art brushes. Both she and I were drawn into Lush and spent around £20 each but the woman in front of me had a basket full of Lush gift boxes and other things all half price but even so her bill must have been well over £150 and possibly even £200, many were gifts for family she said. They have only just had Christmas for goodness sake. I am a big fan but really how can you justify spending that much of luxuries just a few days after Christmas?

I do really think we are being brainwashed into thinking we must rush out and spend by all the adverts and hype in the media. We are becoming like sheep and when the idea of shopping is put in the mind we all rush out and spend.

I suppose if i was really organised i would go out and buy things that could be used as gifts for others throughout the year but the trouble is I like to buy gifts that people want not something that might do. I listen to what my family say and what they are interested in and then buy something that fits with that at the time. Toys for children might well not be what they want in a year's time, Lush products would be out of date! Toiletries generally do not keep for that long at their best and books I choose based on the person's taste and interest at the time. We already have all the decorations we need that we carefully put away for each year so why buy more? No I think buying for the next year is false economy.

The other danger with sales is that you get drawn into buying something because it is a bargain. It might be something you don't need or would not have otherwise bought so in fact it is not a saving in that you have spent money you might not have otherwise spent. Martin Lewis on his site says :
"ARE YOU SKINT? Ask yourself - Do I need it? Can I afford it?
NOT SKINT? Ask yourself - Will I use it? Is it worth it?"

I now do exactly that. I am not skint but all four questions should be asked in my view. We should NOT waste money as so many are really struggling it seems really bad taste to throw money away on unnecessary stuff to clutter up your house or wardrobe just because it is cheaper than it was two weeks ago

So did I shop till I dropped? NO I certainly didn't. I prefer to spend my money wisely and instead of things my husband and I treated ourselves to a few days in Iceland at the end of January. We don;t need any more things to gather dust in our house as we are trying to downsize so our children don't have a house full of junk to clear out when we move on.

I do hope that the retail businesses have made enough to keep going in these hard economic times but I also hope that families have not put themselves into more debt than they can cope with in order to have a Christmas and then hopefully did not go and spend again just after the most expensive time of year. I wish they would have the sales in February /March when people might have had a chance to recoup a little and make it an end of winter sale. The problem is that the shops are constantly having sales so we get bombarded with 'Spend, spend , spend' all year round now.

As far as I am concerned and really most people I know also feel the same, young and old, these sales are hyped up adverts to get us to spend again just after our pockets are empty from Christmas shopping. You might get a bargain but just really ask "Do I need this?" and "Can I really afford it?" before you rush out and buy a whole pile of stuff that will just sit in the wardrobe or sit around the house gathering dust. It isn't a bargain if it means you are spending money you would not have been spending had it not been cheap!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Do your homework before selling your jewellery

This is an extension of my damning internet gold-buying review, and is intended to help with selling jewellery in general.

Again, to anyone considering selling gold to a postal gold service:
                DON'T DO IT!

I own a jewellery and antique shop, so I'll let you in on a few secrets.

Gold is at an all time high. All of the gold dealers are telling us this, and urging people to sell.
At time of writing, November 2012, 9ct gold is smelting (being melted down by the refineries - the end user) at around £12.50 per gram. The smelting price is known as 'spot price'.

If you sell scrap gold to a jeweller, you're using an unnecessary middle man!
While they won't make a fortune off you, you'll be lucky to break £10 per gram for them to make anything from a 10%-25% margin.
Some of the more unscrupulous will offer ridiculously low amounts; I've had people in my shop who have been offered £5 per gram as they clearly don't know what they have or what it's worth. If you sell on the high street SHOP AROUND for the best quote.

Ignore the "come to us last, we'll pay the best price" signs, this means they'll buy your gold at the lowest possible price undercutting the closest rival. If you've been offered £10 per gram, they will magically be paying £10.05. Don't tell a dealer what you've been offered, always ask for their best price and walk away if it's not the best.

Look for a shop who buy to re-sell. That's what I do and it's the reason I can pay a fair price. Often if you sell to a retailer rather than a scrap man, you'll get very close to 'spot price' and often slightly above!
Haggle, especially if you see that the shop can see re-sale potential in your piece of jewellery.

Shops will make (on average) a 100% mark-up on your jewellery, a double up, by cleaning, refurbishing and selling second hand jewellery, but maybe only a 10% margin on scrapping it in. You can't begrudge a shop putting a mark-up on it, that is standard business practice and keeps the lights turned on and the world turning, but you CAN avoid them making a profit on your scrap metals.

The answer is simply to go direct to the end-user, the smelting houses! There are currently over a dozen buying direct from the public (until recently they only used to buy from the trade) and they will pay the best price around for scrap. Expect 95%-98% of the spot price from a smelting house/refinery.

There have been a few reviews with people annoyed that diamonds don't count towards anything.
                Well....
Sadly that is partially true. A left over loose diamond under 0.25ct (quarter carat) really isn't of much value as it costs more to measure, categorise and grade the stone than it'd be worth sold on. 0.25ct and above is certainly worth some extra money though, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! If they insist on paying scrap price, then insist on the stones back - there is a booming market for loose diamonds on e.bay and a few specialist outlets, so you might as well get a bit of something back for them rather than the gold-buyer profit after lying to your face.

Obviously it's much better to just sell a complete piece of jewellery for a fair price - again, second hand jewellers are the place to look.

Coloured stones are sadly worth very little.
Semi precious stones such as Topaz, Amethyst and Garnet are very cheap to buy directly from specialists, and they are already graded and cut to specific shapes and sizes, so unless it's a wonderful cut, a large size, or an unusual/unique gemstone (multi-coloured such as watermelon tourmaline, or rare as in coloured garnets) then you won't be offered anything on top of gold price for it.
Precious gemstones such as Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are a slightly different story. They have a value, but it is entirely subjective - they are only worth what an individual is willing to pay. Where diamond values are fairly easy to gauge depending on colour and size, coloured stones are a minefield and a lot of people not trained in gemmology stay away.

Sadly, most of the places buying gold have no idea as to the value of a piece of jewellery, they simply see the gold weight on a scale and tally that against a price chart. Even Tesco buy gold now (don't ask the price - it's embarrassing!)
It really does pain me to think of some of the beautiful pieces of jewellery being melted down because the buyer only sees a gold value. Victorian brooches, 18th century Albert Chains and watch fobs - even named pieces like Georg Jenson Silver and gold Cartier jewellery. It honestly sickens me how the pop-up gold buyers have trashed the vintage jewellery market.

As little as 5 years ago, there might only be one or two places in a town who would buy pre-owned jewellery. Now that the gold value has increased, dozens of these vultures have sprung up and there is now one on every corner. Again, another reason to shop around for the best price.

The only good thing is that the prices are more competitive the more shops in the local area buy gold.

Things to look out for yourself:
Check the hallmarks yourself. If your eyes are up to it, see if you can make out the metal code on the pieces of jewellery you're looking to sell.

375 = 9ct gold (lowest allowed quality in UK)
585 = 14ct gold (common on European pieces)
                750 = 18ct gold
                916 = 22ct gold
                999 = 24ct 'pure' gold

                800 = Continental Silver
                925 = Sterling Silver
                958 = Britannia Silver

                950 = Platinum (950PD = Palladium)

The codes are the metals purity out of 1000. So 9ct gold is 375 parts gold and 625 parts other metals.

There are a few oddments around, for example the lowest American purity is 10ct (417), and Germany has 8ct (333) but these are rarely seen over here.

                Conclusion?
If you're selling scrap, get to the end user such as Hatton Garden Metals, or GBC Gold Buying Centre.
If you're selling complete, decent condition jewellery - either gold or silver - get thee to a good reliable second hand jewellers. Every town has one, usually a small family run outfit rather than a faceless chain shop.
Auctions are ok, but you run the risk of the price levelling out at the scrap value, and then you have to pay the fee's (20% give or take) so end up out of pocket regardless.

If you do deal with a second hand jeweller and you don't like the price offered, enquire about commission and consignment sales. This is where the shop sell the piece for you and take a commission out of the price after its sold, usually around 20%.
Not all shops offer that, but a fair few will, and it benefits everyone involved. You get close to retail value on your jewellery, the shop gets some free window stock and a small commission for zero outlay and good karma flows throughout.

I hope that this helps people. I've written this as a helpful guide (no points for discussion categories) and nothing else, so do feel free to comment if it's been of use.

(rated 1/5 as it's the gold buying page - I didn't know where else to put this).

                K

                  Hobbies

I have decided to write a review on my hobbies, I know this might bore some people but it also might be interesting to others with the same hobbies or interests. These hobbies I have been doing for many years now and to this day I still enjoy them, although time is a problem at the moment for me as I don't have much of it to share around everything and everyone, and normally I am tired when my little boy goes to bed lately so don't tend to do anything but chill out. I hope I can maybe introduce new hobbies to people by sharing mine, but it not I hope it is an interesting read all the same.

I have to say I really enjoy card making, giving me the chance to totally personalize a card for that someone special, whether it is an anniversary, birthday or Christmas card, it puts a smile on their faces knowing it is handmade and is personalize to their liking. Making your own cards is time consuming, although that does depend on the volume of cards you're making at the time, and much detail goes into the card. I mean some can take 10-20 minutes others can take an hour or two, really does depend on the person, knowledge, and the card.

I have been making my own cards for many years now, still considering myself as a amateur, but its all a learning process and I have learned a lot, looking through magazines and books help, giving me handy tips, relevant information, idea's, products to use, and most importantly inspiration. I have always been a creative person for as long as I know, always enjoying drawing and painting, but that soon stopped when leaving school. I am not even sure how I got into making my own cards; all I know is that I am glad I tried it.

I used to make a card or two everyday when I first started out but because things are not as well quiet at home at the moment and there is always something to do that takes my spare time away, its hard to get a card done a week. But I do know that when I do have them precious few minutes I have something that I enjoy to do. I have made many cards and all with good feedback from friends, residents and family, which pleases me.

When I do have the time I tend try and make a few cards and keep them in a safe place, so when a birthday or anniversary comes up and I don't have time to make one, I have always got some stashed away. Although my collection as drastically gone down. You don't have to be creative person to give this hobby a try, anyone can do it, ok fair enough you might not produce some really nice ones at first but it takes time and patience, and the know how, you will soon be a professional in no time at all. Even my 5 year old lad loves making cards for his dad, and grand parents he loves it.

Now cross stitching I got into when visiting a friend one day, she was sat there stitching a lovely sunset one, oh it was beautiful, we got talking about it, and when it comes to Christmas guess what I received? A cross stitch kit of winnie the pooh, (I love winnie the pooh) I got started on it straight away, which took a while to complete it, but I was really happy when I did. I still have it to this day, which is in a frame and sat under my tele. Since then I have bought so many to do, but now is finding the time to get them done.

I have started a white rose one, which is being stitched or my mother in law for her birthday, I hope she will like it. Cross stitching is easy and depending on the kits you buy they can either be expensive or not. You can either buy the fabric, thread and needles all separate and do your own design or buy the kits which gives you everything you need to make it.

Cross stitching can be made into anything, pictures, key rings, put onto cards, on t-shirts, bags, coats, you name it. I cannot say I have ever done this, but also great to place into frames to spruce up the house or the kids bedroom up. Cross stitching can also be time consuming but I tend to just do what I can when I can, its not something you have to do all in one go. There are also magazines I used to collect that you used to have a mini kit with the magazine, maybe if anyone wants to try cross stitching is to buy one of these first see how you like it and get on with it, also good for older children to.

Well what can I say I just love being out in my garden, to most people that would sound odd, but I love it, don't mind getting my hands dirty at all, My garden at the moment all needs doing, it's a mess sad as it goes, as the whether this year as not been friendly to us. I have a greenhouse as I love to be out there planting my own fruit and vegetables, but with the wind we have had this year it's ruined my greenhouse and not have the chance to get it mended, if it is amenable.

I have many plans for my garden for next year, I want some decking to the top of the garden, a nice rockery or 2, and just filled with lovely flowers that I have grown myself, along with my tasty vegetables and fruit that I will have success in growing next year. Anyone that wants to grow their own fruit and vegetables don't think you have to have a huge garden as most of the vegetables can be grown in pots, in which is how I grown them. So give a try because there is nothing like harvesting your own fruit and vegetables and eating them, they are very fresh and very delicious and most importantly free.

Being in my garden especially on the warmer days can be as relaxing as reading a book, even if you're digging up your garden. I find that being out there I forget about everything apart from what I am doing out there, I have also thought on many occasions to be a landscape gardener, but people laugh at me as if I am mad.

Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to go fishing, I don't know what it was, or why I wanted to go but I just did. My dad used to fish every weekend, we hardly saw him to be honest, I asked many times to go with him but wouldn't take me. Last year I was saying to my partner that I would really like to go, just to see if I would enjoy it, to see what it is like, he told me to ask his dad and his brother as they go often. A few weeks after asking him we went, and I am glad to see I wasn't disappointed, I enjoyed it and couldn't wait to go again.

We went a few days last year, was a little expensive with us starting up, but it was worth it. We haven't been this year apart from the beginning of august when we had a week away at lonsdale parks (review written) and we had a great time, fished every day and was the best week away I have had in a long time.

It was very relaxing and I didn't have a care in the world, I forgot about everything, I cannot wait to go again next year, I learned a lot too whilst I was there and made me quite proud. I know most women wont like fishing, and people I know says I am joking when I tell them I am into fishing, I am sure they think I am boring but I don't care.

When I have a spare couple of minutes I tend to nip on facebook, but really I tend to use to play the games on there as not many people talk to me. The games can be quite addictive, others can be boring but it passes the couple of minutes, Although they are small games in a browser they can be fun and good to play, even my little boy plays them sometimes, the only problem is you can get so many notifications for games that you don't know where to start.

I also play wow (world of warcraft) which is a online game, also addictive, this game I only tend to play when I have more than an hour to spare which just lately isn't the case. I do enjoy playing this game it is very time consuming but fun at the same time, and can meet new people on there which I like too, although they can be to serious to the game, which can be very annoying at times.

I enjoy playing the sims 3 too, I used to always play this game, but time is not with me at the moment. The last few times I have played my little boy has been sat with me helping play it, he seems to get quite into the game. The game is fun, exciting and addictive, and can easily spend the day playing it, which I used to do. I wont tell you about the game as I am hoping to write a review on this soon.

I haven't read a book since leaving school, not because I cannot read but because I have never really found the time to sit and read a book, and also been something that really has not interested me. A month or so a go, my mother in law asked if I would like to read a good book, asking what it was, she said it was 50 shades of grey, I have heard loads of people reading this book but not giving to much away apart from you must read this. I decided to give it a try, and well I was addicted to the book, I was a little bit shocked that I actually was reading a book. I finished the first book and just had to borrow the other 2 which I am now half way through the second book, and like the first one, I am addicted and never really want to put it down.

I do tend to read magazines especially my cross stitching occasionally, and my card making ones, has these give me some great hints and tips, along with idea's, and inspiration. Also they give you insights to what new products are on the market, and where you can find them. I don't buy these as much now as the card making as taken a back seat along with the cross stitching, but hopefully not for long.

I enjoy writing I could sit and write all day long if I could. I wrote a children's book a few years ago, and gave it to my friend to read as she wanted to read it, after a few days I asked her if she had read it, she said not all of it, but it was a good read. I asked again a few weeks later and she told me her kids and scribbled and wrote all over it so she binned it, I was gutted and a little upset as it did take me a while to write that. And I was proud of it. I haven't wrote another one since, as I think it put me off, although at the moment for some reason I cannot write as much as my hand hurts after a while.

I love reading and writing reviews, I try and tend to read all the newest reviews every day although sometimes that does not happen because I have a busy day, so sorry. The reviews I have read so far have been very good some very exceptional and gives me great insight to products out there, either to buy or keep away from. Since being back into the reading and writing from 2 years ago, not many people remember me which does disappoint me as I did have great friends here, but it is my own fault for leaving for as long as I did. I do have to thank everyone though who have taken the time to RRC on my reviews it is much appreciated, and especially the few of your that have gave me E's on my reviews since being back.

I hope I haven't bored anyone with sharing my hobbies with you, but like I have mentioned maybe there is someone out there that may share the same as me, if not might just help them into maybe trying one or 2 of them. I just want to thank everyone that will read and rate this. I am hoping in time I can get back into my hobbies, full time instead of part time, I guess it is just making the time for me. I would also like to try jewellery, cake and flower making at some point but probably be next year, they interest me and would be great to learn how to.

                              Advantages

                              Disadvantages

                              -

I figured I'd share some things about myself, considering I'm sharing my opinions for all to see! You might as well know the girl behind the reviews...

                              1. Which do you prefer - shower or bath? And why?
Showers. I have a weird thing about baths that I have to have a shower before and after so baths are always a very long event for me!

                              2. What do you swear you'll never do?
                              Cheat on my boyfriend.

                              3. What's the most embarrassing thing you ever done?
I generally don't get embarrassed all that easily. I can't think of anything I've done that I'm embarrassed by, i'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

                              4. What is your favourite quote?
"A lot of bad things are going to happen to you. First off, you're going to die. So, that said, there's not much too worry about. No matter what else happens, you really only have two options: you can either handle things well and be happy, or you can handle them poorly and be miserable." I really have no idea where it originated from, but my friend's mum said it to me when I was 12 and it stuck with me ever since.

                              5. What was your favourite holiday? And why?
Going to Regensburg. It wasn't really a holiday at all as I was performing there to represent the country, but it was the most incredible week of my life and it still saddens me that it's over.

                              (where are questions 6 & 7?)

                              8. Savoury or sweet?
Both. Some people have a sweet tooth. I have a tooth for everything.

                              9. Hot or cold?
Hot, I cannot stand to be cold. I always have to be very warm. I cried walking home from work yesterday because the snow started and I couldn't feel my hands. I hate hate hate the cold!

                              10. What's your favourite drink?
White wine. Preferably sauvingon blanc from Chile, but I usually take what I can get :P.

                              11. What's your favourite food?
Prawn cocktail wotsits. Or any kind of Italian food.

                              12. Who do you hate the most?
I don't. Hating people and holding a grudge takes up far more energy than it's worth. People that have done wrong to me just don't exist in my mind anymore. It's far easier that way.

                              13. Do you have a crush on someone? If so, who?
Ryan Gosling. The man is an angel.
I still also have a little girl crush on my boyfriend. We love each other deeply, but it still doesn't stop me from getting butterflies.

                              14. What is your favourite colour?
                              Teal

                              15. What did you do last night?
Worked, did some zumba and then researched things to do on my upcoming trip to New York. (all rates will be going towards to the trip, so every little helps :P)

                              16. What's your favourite thing to do?
Finding nice, quirky restaurants/bars, getting cosy in the corner with a delicious meal and some drinks and spending the night just chatting and giggling away.

                              17. Favourite movie, TV Programme, Book?
Favourite movie: I genuinely don't really have a favourite. I'm not really someone who overly enjoys movies, books or watching tv, so this question is a toughie! MI4 - Ghost Protocol was damn cool though! I wouldn't say it's my favourite...
Tv show: CSI NY. Either that or Come Dine With Me
Book: The Little Prisoner, Jane Elliot. I've read it a hundred times over and it still shocks me to the core every time.

                              18. Who's your hero?
Can't say I really have one...

                              19. Favourite song of all time?
City Of Blinding Lights - U2
                              Mr Brightside - The Killers
You can't not have a good time listening to those songs.

                              20. Have you ever had a supernatural experience?
                              No.

                              21. Favourite Sounds?
                              Waves crashing on the beach.

                              22. Favourite Smells?
                              Coconut, cherry, the ocean.

At the beach or exploring a beautiful city. I'm not fussy.

                              24. Happiest moments in your life?
Realising that after a year of abuse and torment, my life was only just beginning. I'd spent so long afterwards just wallowing in my own self pity, not understanding that my life wasn't over, it was just starting.

                              25. Saddest moments in your life so far?
Losing my Grandad. Being abused by the one person I trusted in life. Suffering with ME for years.

                              26. What is your dream job?
                              DNA Analyst.

Going for a walk in the sunset.

                              28. What are your favourite Newspaper/ Magazine?
I'm not really a fan of either. They both tend to be filled with crap.

                              29. Which celebrity do you like the most?
                              Ryan Gosling I suppose.

                              30. Do you have any siblings?
Yes, we aren't exactly what I'd call close though.

                              31. Have you ever been in hospital? If so, why?
More than I'd like to have been, yes. All for various reasons pertaining to my health and abusive past.

                              32. Have you ever broken a bone or had stitches?
Yes and yes. I've broken my nose 4 times, lucky me!

                              33. Do you believe in Angels/Ghosts/Demons?
                              No.

No, however reading my horoscope at break times at work is always a bit of a giggle!

                              Bright blue.

Currently, reddy brown with honey and caramel tones throughout.

                              37. What religion are you?
                              I don't believe in religion.

                              38. If you could change 1 thing about you, what would it be?
                              The size of my forehead.

                              39. If you could change 1 thing about your personality, what would it be?
                              I wouldn't, I wouldn't be who I am today with a different personality.

                              40. What are your biggest fears?
                              Public buses.

                              41. Do you have any regrets? If so, what are they?
Nope. Like the personality changing question, I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't done everything I've done. There's no point wasting my time regretting things that I can't change, instead I focus on making good decisions in the future.

                              42. Have you ever been in love?
                              Yes :).

I'm in retail to pay my way through uni. Can't say I enjoy getting up for that in the morning but my colleagues are amazing, so we get by!

                              46. What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
When my boyfriend and I first started seeing one another I was having a bit of a relapse with my ME. Long story short, I cried in the car all the way home so he pulled over, took me by the hand to the side of the road and just held me, promising that I'd be okay and that he'd never let it hurt me again. It was the first time I felt like someone really cared and understood. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

                              47. What's the worst thing anyone has done to you?
Abused me. Although I let it happen out of fear, so I suppose it was the worst thing I ever did to myself.

I really don't care about cars. As long as it's black, shiny and it goes, I'll be happy!

My birthday! Some people hate their birthdays but I absolutely love mine!

                              50. Where do you hang out?
This is an odd question. All over the place. In bars, at friend's houses, in cafes, in bed, wherever I fancy!

Well thanks for sticking with me this long, hopefully you've not been bored to tears!
