Advantages: not good anymore

Disadvantages: drug cheating

A long long time ago in a far far galaxy, there lived a little boy who thought Athletics was the ultimate sport to watch on TV. Taking part was never a factor, watching great athletes on the screen doing their stuff was magical. I loved all the big meetings, olympics, world cup etc.

Many years later I have come to regret spending hours on TV watching track and field events. I regret it all because out of all sports Athletics is the worst. This sport is ruled by cheating men and women, people who would do anything to win.

Drug ban in athletics is two years, in Olympics it is for life. Sadly for athletes winning brings in money and if they get banned for two years, it is a small problem because when they come back to the sport they earn lot more due to everyone knowing them in news and media.

China Olympics are due shortly. Biggest headache for the organisors is catching cheats.

There are drugs in use which give unlimited advantage to the person taking it. Some of the drugs are less than 1% likely to show up in athletes body.

Athletes should all cheat. At least than we know where everyone stands.

Summary: they should all take drugs

Good review but as a past sportsman I prefer the days you describe. I don't think you wasted time watching sport the trouble is the bans should all be for life then the cheating may stop. I don't think Sir Roger Bannister took drugs too break the four minute mile record. There are too many athletes that don't cheat and what you suggest isn't fair to them.
