I have looked at buying a new car the past few weeks, (although I do love the car I have its just too big now! Fiat Ulysse 2.0 EL). There is a lot to say about importing your car and saving thousands but you do have to be very carefull, as I have found out.

If you import you have to get a FULL UK spec car that does not say 'import' on the car registration. This will help to keep the cars second hand price around the normal UK car prices and keep your insurance down. You can wait for months to receive the car, all the time the price is dropping and you are losing out. You only get a 1 year pan european warrenty on imports.

I went to an internet car price check for a new Nissan Almera Tino 1.8 SE+ and they send you a list of all the prices available. I took the list to my Nissan dealer in Plymouth and said I don't want to waste your time, what can you do? They said no trouble we will BEAT this price and give you a better after service deal and better extras deal. So, do the research on the net and take the proof to the dealer and be cheeky! After all its your money! I hope to order in a few weeks.
