Advantages: Healthy life style

I used to hate sport at school so was never taht keen on exercise but by the time I was due to leave school I found that I needed to take more exercise and as such spent a little time trying out a few things to see whta took my fancy.

Perhaps my best tip for keeping fit is to find something you really like doing, so many people join the gym because they think that this is the best wa to get fit and then find that they do not enjoy it as it is boring, or they get into a rut and do not like changing what they do.

I was lucky because I go to the gym and do the classes which I really enjoy, this means that there is a certain amount of variety to be had as there are different fitness classes to do for all ability and fitness levels. Also the class routines are changed on a regular basis as is the instructors so there is variety, going on a regular basis twice in the week and once at the weekend I have made a few friends and we help each other out with support and sharing the driving sometimes, three of us even went on a spa weekend without the other halves which was great fun.

I also play badminton once a week, it is good that these activities are all indoors as it makes going and taking part in the winter a lot easier when the temptation is to stay indoors with a coffee and a big chocolate bar.

I enjoy running, but in the winter this is not much fun. I find entering a race i.e. race for life, gives you an aim and a focus. At least once a week I try to go to the gym, the bonus I have there is that it is at my husbands workplace, and most times i'm in there on my own - almost my own personal gym!! Nicola x

You really do have to make the effort to find something you want to do and enjoy doing. I am the ultimate lazy sod but in the last few months have started running, dont particularly enjoy it but I have an aim and running is a part of it, but my personal preference is for swimming or simply going out with friends and dancing like a loon.

I used tio be good at gymnastics . and high jump in my day
