Advantages: I suppose to keep the loo fresh

I was jumping with rage at our downstairs loo it had been blocked for months. We tried every device you could possibly imagine even the most revolting one of hand removal! Plungers, chemicals, rods,renewing the inner cistern in case it was a build up of limescale (we were given so much advice from visitors!) our last resort or so we thought was to call the Water Board (as we thought it was the drains). It was one of life's mysteries.

We then thought we would get an umpteenth opinion and called in another plumber. We couldn't believe our eyes when he turned up with heavy duty equipment; a pump action water blaster (the size of a pneumatic drill)and blasted water through the u bend. A visit to the drains recovered a toilet freshener (the sort that hangs over the bowl).
This somewhat innocent item was the most expensive we had ever bought. We would never recommend them to anyone (and neither would the plumber) not only for the blockage but because we suspect a small person (who will remain nameless) had dropped it down the pan...what fun it must have been!
