Advantages: Excellent for removing problem smears, or paint or varnish from glass

Disadvantages: leaves a bit of dust behind, but is easily removed

When all proprietory cleaners have failed, and you're still left with annoying smears and smudges (particularly in the corners of mirrors and windows), the following product which I discovered whilst searching for a sanding product, may just do the trick.
It's called Colron fine gauge wire wool (and no it won't scratch your windows to bits). You can buy it from
DIY shops such as Homebase or B&Q. It comes in a plastic bag and for around £3 you get quite a bit, it can be used for a variety of other purposes, but it is excellent for getting rid of smears, and removing paint or varnish that has accidentally got onto the windows whilst decorating.
