Advantages: great to watch
Disadvantages: don't blink you'll miss it
Considering that this is such a popular sport can somebody tell me why the tv coverage is so rubbish. I worked it out, there was about four and a half hours of it spread over four days, half of that was spent on talking about it. when they did show you some action all you got was a couple of seconds of a car sliding round a corner. Surely a company as big as the BBC could do a better job of covering it than this. The event i'm talking about is the british rally, which is also the final leg in the world championship. As for the rest of the rallys worldwide your lucky if you get any coverage at all, and when you do it's a week or so later so you already know the result. Maybe it's time that SKY got their hands on it, then maybe it would get better coverage. You could just imagine it you could see a crash from ten different angles and a computer simulation of what went wrong. So somebody please get your act together, give us some proper coverage of what is a great spectator sport.

- 04/12/00 I think the problem lies with the length of the stages and the number of cars involved. They used to have live coverage of the RAC rally - but the cars don't really against each other - but against the clock !! The future is where they have timed trials - which can be shown on TV and where car races against car. |
