Advantages: Many postitions, Great tackling, Great Passing ability

Disadvantages: NONE

Steven Gerrard has to be considered as one of the best players in the world at the moment. Gerrard was born on 30/05/1980 so he is only 20, 21 at the end of the month and has a great future ahead of him. He is fairly tall at 6'1 and is not afraid of making a hard tackle. At the moment he is being worried with constant injuries, which is not good news for England with World Cup Qualifiers coming up. He has been a key player to Liverpool's Triple success this season, and hopefully he will do the same for England. At the moment he has played only 3 games for England but with England having a friendly against Mexico tonight it should become 4.

Steven is a product of the Liverpool Youth Academy, he is arguably one of the brightest young talents in the English game. The former YTS trainee, who hails from Huyton, has made incredible progress in such a short space of time. He made his Liverpool Debut in November 1998 against Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup and made his full debut a few days later against Blackburn. He has now played 94 games for Liverpool scoring 11 goals, most of which are amazing 30 yarders.

Gerrard can play in many positions but is usually known to play in the centre of the field. He is a player of the same standards as Player of the Year - Patrick Vieira. Any team in the world would like both of these to play centre midfield together. Kevin Keegan first called up Steven to the England squad for Euro 2000. He showed to the world what he can do and what a great future he has for himself with a great performance against Germany.

A great player for the future and will be a special player for England. Good luck to him.

he's got great potential but he's hardly one of the best players in the world at the moment. he's still behind keane and veria in the premiership, but f he satys free from injury he could be a great.

height does come into it because it adds another dimention to a players game. gerrard is excellent in the air, which makes his useful as a defender, and a threat from corners.

I agree with the praise you've given him but I don't think height or things like that have much to add to your argument. Also I don't think he's very well known over Europe so I'm sure that the biggest clubs would rather have Davids, Viera or Mendieta. However you make a very fair point.
