Any of the fans who watched Glamorgan play in 1999 and 2000 will be estatic to hear Jacques Kallis is making a return to the Glamorgan County Cricket Club side ready for the 2001 campaign that will probably get underway in mid-April. Of course Steve James has now replaced Matthew Maynard as Captain of the first XI with Adrian Dale as vice captain as James now leaves that space open. It will be sad however to see Australian opening batsman Matthew Elliot not at Sophia Gardens this coming season. His fine batting performances were certainly a highlight of last season, including 177 in the opening partnership at Colwyn Bay where the undoubted highlight of the season ...

After a fairly dismal season weather wise, glamorgan got to their first lords final for 23 years, the benson and hedges cup against gloucs. They batted first as glamorgan are better at setting targets then chasing them. Although they appeared to be playing well, as soon as gloucs came out to bat it was obvious that they were going to lose and lose they did. Gloucs scored most of the runs they needed in the first few overs. Glamorgan did manage to get back tho by getting a few middle order batsmen for only a few runs. This allowed glamorgan to come back a bit but they never really stood a chance. They lost by a long way, but they still did well to get to the final and ...
