Advantages: Great fun for all ages
Disadvantages: Can be a little difficult at first
I started glass paintind about 18 months ago and it has given me something to do on a night when listening to the radio.
Now dont get me wrong im not a middle-aged singleton. Which is not my view but i was quite surprised when my so called mates expressed this view. In fact i am very much the opposite, which tells you that it can suit everyone.
I first started glass painting when i helped my niece with a kit she had got for christmas, i must say what a lovely gift! It contained glass paints, 2 brushes, 4 glass jars, some templates, and some outliner. Together we made some lovely jars to store thing in.
Since then i have got my self a more grown up set. I now use acetate, this is a slightly bendie material so you can make realistic projects. My most recent being a butterfly in flight. I put this piece in the window and it looks lovely when the sun is shinning.
Most books recomend you use water based paints as white spirit cleans up the spilages up a treat, but you can buy other kinds.
You can buy outliners that look really nice on glass pots and vases. The black really stands out but the silvere and golds make your pieces a little more special.
So have a go, (what ever age you are) and you never no, if you get really good you could even sell your pieces at local craft fairs!
Summary: Give it a go

- 24/02/08 I did this back in our old house, to create a fake leaded light panel for a door that had a broken one. It looked quite good but not as good as the real thing. |
