This is one of the subjects in the speakers corner that has always intrigued me, so much so, that i have decided to say what the hell, and give my own opinion on the matter.

I write this review after literally 2 minutes ago listening to a radio report about a scientist that has just created a GM chicken that has no feathers! All i can say about that is what a silly idea to come up with.

Let's face it, as if the thought of Dolly the sheep wasn't bad enough, now they are creating a bald chicken, are farmers just planning on getting lazy by not plucking the dam chickens?

I am beginning to wonder just how far these people are willing to go, fair enough, when i used my opinion title for this review, it was meant with a comical side, but one way to look at it is that how long will it be before we can actually clone perfect replicas of people, that age perfectly etc.

The problem with this is that if the technology is created in order to clone humans, and they can be modified so that in effect they are a perfect race, what happenes to the mere mortals so to speak. This sounds ridiculous, and i know you are probably thinking what is mr blonde talking about, or you stupid plonker. But i think it is a fair comment, one day we could have a race of clones.

In fairness, there are 2 sides to every argument, and the argument in favour of cloning is that cures for illness will be far more reliable as we will be able to experiment on clones as opposed to animals, problems with human dna structures etc can also be researched in far more detail with clones as opposed to what can be inaccurate animal research.

The idea of clones does seem a little far fetched, but it is an issue that is rapidly becoming a reality. Science is developing so rapidly that we can now toy with dna structure to create a bald chicken, so what else can we create if that is possible.

What if the technology falls into completely t
he wrong hands, could we be lookin at the ressurection of Hitler. This all seems silly i know, and i do sound like a babbling idiot here, so i will stop with the theatrics. But these moral issues are ones that somply cannot be ignored.

There is the issue of technology, we can see that the technology is in development, and that there are people throughout the world that obviously want to know just how far they can go with cloning and modifying animals. If this technology is being developed, then just who is funding these operations. Surely worldwide governments cannot be funding this research, and if so, for what purposes. I am beginning to think that this opinion would suit the conspiracy theories category more than this area hehehe.

My opinion is that a worldwide law should be passed so that all Genetic Modifying and Cloning is abolished, and that all technology and research should be destroyed. I feel that the sooner this is done the better. It is (again an extreme) almost reminiscant of the way that Sadam Hussain is renowned for having lookalikes everywhere, while he is hiding, are these lookalikes or are they actually clones, maybe Iraq is a major benefactor from the research into cloning, maybe they have already cracked the secret behind it?

Anyway, thankyou for reading this babbling idiots' review, you probably thought it was rubbish, and extremist, after looking back on it i am beginning to think so myself, but i am submitting it anyway, because it will niggle away at me if i don't.

My viws on GM foods are somewhat similair to my views on cloning, i aint particularly fussed on the idea, i can see the purpose behind it, but i think there is a nicer taste to naturally grown foods anyway. I dislike the idea that food has been modified in order to create a specific taste, or to mass produce something. Surely that takes away lots of the nutrient value of the food in the first place?

The idea behind the chicken makes very good economic sense, but is in my opinion both immoral and unethical. This is the kind of research that gives scientist a bad name, but that doesn't mean that all research in this field should be tarred with the same brush.

Oh, I loved the reasoning behind the bald chicken - its to make them more comfortable in hotter climates apparently! HAHAHAHA!!!! I'm sure the sunburn will be lovely for them...
