Advantages: Traditional

Disadvantages: Does not raise the spirits

Being a strong supporter of the Monachy I do not find any problems with the sentiments expressed in the National Anthem but it is such a boring tune with repetative words. In fact it is a bit of a durge.

There are however one or two other contenders for the Anthem which seem to arouse the spirits.

Rule Brittania is of course so outdated, as we no longer rule anything, let alone the waves. But one that I would personally like to see replace our existing anthem is Land of Hope and Glory.

The tune is good the sentiments expressed are good and the song certainly seems to raise the spirits of those singing it much more than our existing Anthem

My objection to the anthem is that the original version had a line about killing the Scots

Rule Britannia - oh please! I agree with you - rule what. Land of H&G - just as dreadful and dirge like. How about the tune of Jerusalem with some new words? Or lets invate Russia and steal theirs - it's been my favourite forever.
