I know that Sven will have his own ideas and his own approach to the team and the way the team plays, but I think that if he wants a reliable left back, and he wants to experiment with youth, then he should pick Jon Harley. I am not writing this because I support Chelsea, I am writing from my heart and I honestly believe that Jon Harley would be ... more

Next time Sven Goran Eriksson is in London, he should go down to Stamford Bridge and have a look at the talent on show. Ok there aren’t exactly many Englishmen at Chelsea but at the moment, Jon Harley is what our National team is crying out for. Let’s take a look at the competition he faces to play at left back for England. Starting with our Euro 2000 hero himself, Phil Neville. Let’s be honest, if he could time a tackle then he would be dangerous! Ok he has proved himself at Man. Utd but the international scene is just to quick for him, just ask Romania. Then we see Stuart Pearce, he is 38 years old and an England legend, but he is ...  Read the complete review

Why not give Harley a chance??? (102 words)

Hes got it all, speed skill vision and hes also left footed! There is no better left back at chelsea and for that matter in england! He wouldnt have made that pathetic tackle that Phil Neville did had he been playing against romania. I think it is only a matter of time before this youngster gets a shot at chelsea. He established himself as our number one left back for a lot of last season under Vialli, only to be frozen out by Ranieri. So come on claudio, give John a chance! ...  Read the complete review

Another product from the Lilleshall School of excellence who made such an impression in his first year he was taken on even before the second year at his school of excellence. Harley as a fast skilful left sided midfielder or defenderI if he can add some assertiveness he could have a big future. He made a very impressive debut and showed lots of potential in subsequent games but really burst onto the scene around Christmas with some stunning performances. Very much one to watch! I am not sure if he is a good a enough player to be playing regular first team football for Chelsea yet, even then having seen him play well in a few matches Born: Maidstone, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review obviously will never make it (157 words)

Harley doesn’t have hat it takes to succeed at Chelsea; a foreign passport, a lack of talent, and considerable wage demands. Although I haven’t seen him play very often as of yet, it is enough to realise that he has immense potential. At any other club, he would be getting regular first team experience, with view to a permanent place. This would ensure that a committed motivated player was in the team, without the need for expensive transfer fees, or excessive wages. Not Chelsea. They prefer to buy in any number of talentless wasters for massive fees and huge wages, even if it means having a team who can’t be bothered to try for most of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jon Harley: Will he get a chance? (165 words)
by - written on 09/09/00 (Very useful, 48 readings)

Jon Harley is an excellent left-footed player, he played a handful of games last season, and was very impressive in them. So, much though that he got an England U-21 call, and was tipped to make into the England senior's one day. But, I am worried that at Chelsea he won't be given a chance, and therefore like Jody Morris not developed his true potential. There are so many players ahead of him, Babayaro and Le Saux, just to name two. So, if Harley gets an offer from any other clubs, I think he should leave. What's the point of wasting his talents. England are short of left-footers he will be a tremendous asset if he can develop his game. I, ...  Read the complete review
