Advantages: you can build a good freindship
Disadvantages: there are lots of idiots out there
I’d been on the Internet for nearly a year but I didn’t bother much with it. A friend of mine showed me how to use e-mail, then introduced me to newsgroups. One night in July I stumbled across a singles newsgroup (must have been some kind of “divine intervention”). I was intrigued. I decided to put an ad in to see if anyone would actually reply – it was never my intention to “hook up” with anyone, it was just curiosity. I was really surprised at the response (I didn’t think anyone would read it, let alone reply). I conversed with a few guys – I was enjoying the flirt, I’m a terible flirt, it’s good for the self asteem, very healthy. I went on holiday at the end of July (for about a week and a half). When I returned There were 15 e-mails waiting for me (10 of which were replies to my ad). I replied to them all including Stu's (which turned out to be the best decision I ever made). He replied quickly, I remember thinking “I don’t know how much I’ve got in common with this guy but he seems like a laugh” . He directed me to a picture of him, there were a few of his friends in the picture so I wasn’t entirely sure which one was him. He asked for a picture of me – he said I’m beautiful, I was elated – he said he loved my chin – no one had ever said that to me before. He sent me a picture of himself - he is handsome and attractive, definately my type. I began to see different sides to him – he can be very romantic and sweet- some of the things he said to me my heart jump. We were building a friendship, I was becoming emotionally attatched – I was scared – I’ve been hurt before, so “trust” was a big issue with me, I didn’t expect to feel like this. Stu is very “Internet literate”, so he began showing me stuff – I started to develop an inte
rest for the Internet. He introduced me to ICQ – I eventually got the hang of it – he’s very patient. We’d chat for ages, we’ve had some really great chats. We decided to speak on the phone, I phoned first – I was so nervous, I could barely speak – he kept telling me to take a “deep breath”. Our phone calls became frequent - we’d speak for ages – hours sometimes. The next step was obviously meeting face to face. We live quite far apart so cookies arranged a holiday, booked into a B&B and on the train he got to come and meet the women he’d developed a “special friendship” with. I had butterflies all day – I was so excited about meeting him at last. I felt a bit worried that we wouldn’t “click” in person – we had really “clicked” so far and I wanted everything to be perfect. When he came to the door we just looked at each other - things were a bit awkward at first, we sat at the computer, made “small talk” - he put his arm around me and we held hands. We had dinner, then he kissed me - it was nice. For the next 5 days we kissed whenever possible - our time together was intimate and we have become closer and I believe our friendship will grow and blossom. We had a great time together – perfect infact. We were sad when he had to go – but we’ll be together again soon - we’re together in Spirit. “Two hearts beating together as one”. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thats how I met my man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I know I took a chance, luckily it turned out well and I met really lovely guy. My parents were not happy, "he could be a serial killer or a rapist, you don't know him". I felt I knew him well, after all I'd been building a friendship with him and we had to meet eventually. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stu finally moved here i
n July 2000. Our romance is still growing and getting stonger everyday. We can't imagine our lives apart. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope my story will be of help to someone.

- 13/10/01 I think the net's a great way to meet people, after all I have met a load of total w****rs, who have never been near a pc, My point being that there are nutters everywhere, you just have to learn to be a good judge of character and not be too trusting at first. |
