Advantages: pace, finishing, he's N. Irish

Disadvantages: no chances at united

Manchester United have something special in this young lad but I fear that unless he starts to get at least semi-regular first team football he will want to find a new club. I am at a loss as to why Alex Ferguson has not given him his chance at the big stage yet. The league cup tie at Sunderland was the perfect opportunity yet Fergie frustrates all David’s followers by leaving him on the bench and only giving him a sniff of action at the end, by which time it was too late (although Healy did very well in the short space of time he got).
The game against Liverpool would also have been a good time to give Healy his break. I can understand Ferguson not wanting to throw the boy straight into the deep end against bitter rivals, but surely with only one recognised first team striker available he could have at least made the bench?
Only time will tell if Healy can break through at United, but like many of United’s finest youngsters, he may get tired waiting for a chance and decide to go ply his trade somewhere else.

I'm sad that David finally had to move on but in reality he was just not going to get first team football at United. With Cole and Yorke both going to be playing on for another 3 or 4 years and Solskjaer still only maturing as a footballer, and with Ruud Van Nistelrooy probably joining next year, he had to move on and I hope David goes on to great things with Preston and also keeps banging them in for Northern Ireland.

He is a class act. If you don't mind me saying he is a similar player to Robbie Keane only that he may run at defenders a little more. This time next season Healy will be, at least, on the bench for United if not a first team regular. Let's hope Teddy Sheringham loses those golden boots he seems to have invested in.
