Advantages: great to have new members.....

Disadvantages: ... but please read about the site first

I wish I'd found this category when I first became a member of the Dooyoo Community as I would have learned more about the site rather than having to learn by trial & error.

Let me first say that I'm not a brilliant writer & unfortunately don't have the gift as many writers here on Dooyoo. However, I do try to put a good deal of thought into my reviews & from the ratings I've received (thankyou) I feel that they're improving slowly.

We all know that each review can earn 50p or more (if crowned) but it should be noted that when it's time to redeem your miles that the Dooyoo Team may well block those reviews which they feel aren't up to standard. To avoid this it's well worth doing the following -

1). Take the tour of the site as there's a good deal of valuable advice & information here.
2). Take time to read established writers' reviews.
3). Have a good read of crowned reviews & comments made about writers which can be found in Community.

Don't be worried about writing reviews as many of us will freely admit that it's not the easiest thing in the world to do right first time - but take ADVICE from established members.

It's very easy to think that what you've written is faultless & if someone rates your work as 'useful' this is still a great rating. 'Somewhat Useful' or 'Not useful' reviews really need to be looked at as there will be a reason for these ratings - very few (if any) people will rate without being fair. If you, in turn, give a low rating this is viewed as 'Revenge Rating' & you may be reported to the Dooyoo Team.

I would also point out the following -

1). Don't write loads of 150 word reviews in a day (churning) as you won't get as many reads/ rates. In my opinion it's far better to write fewer but better reviews.
2). DO rate other people's reviews - not only does this help writers but also gets you known on the site. This isn't to say you have to give everyone 'Very Useful' - just read & rate fairly.
3). Try to include as much personal experience as you can without making the review too long. eg if you're writing about a chocolate bar don't just list the nutritional value & ingredients - tell us what you think about the bar.
4). Be yourself & enjoy what Dooyoo has to offer & good luck to you all.

summary
~
- don't write too short/too long reviews.
- difficult to do but try to find a title that's eyecatching.
- don't be a 'churner'.
- take advice from established members.
- don't forget to rate others' work fairly.
- welcome to Dooyoo & good luck!

Summary: a great community & welcome all those who show it respect

I'm curious about this "churning" thing. I don't always have internet access (although I have had lately) and so I often write my reviews in text files, save them to my computer and upload later.

Would this uploading all-in-one-go thing (despite having spent some time writing them) make people think I am a "churner" or would they notice the length of my reviews and see that's not the case?

If it's the former, perhaps I should think about uploading the pre-written reviews every few hours instead of at once?
