Advantages: A good community site to help buyers make an informed decision about a product or service
Disadvantages: As with most communities, subject to disagreements and pettiness
When you join dooyoo you could choose to take note of the following advice, or you could do as I did and steam straight in there. Either way, I hope you find something I have to say very useful ;o)
First things first, you get what you give. You can't go about writing a million reviews expecting lots of nice ratings without rating other member's reviews. I learnt this early on. You should consider the detail and information they have given you in their review, remember that reviews on products and services are meant for the potential buyer or user of that product / service. You are not trying to satisfy other members of dooyoo (entirely), but tell the potential buyer about your experiences with the product.
I tend to structure my review as follows:
History / Background of the product and how I came to use it > Where the product can be purchased, how much, do I think it is value for money > How it appears, preconceptions > How to use it (ingredients, nutritional value, hints and tips, alternative ways to use it > Conclusion, did it do what it said it would, was there a better way of using it, do I think another product beats it, would I buy it again and would I recommend it.
You will know after reading the My Account section of dooyoo all about your rewards and all about people rating your reviews, about Circle of Friends (i.e. members you trust and who trust you), but what it doesn't tell you is how to prepare yourself for the reviews you get. In the beginning you will not know acceptable / expected length, quality, content of your review. So for the first few you may get SU (Somewhat Useful) or U (Useful) ratings. Don't worry about these, just try and read as many other reviews as you can and get tips from them, and try reading and taking on board the comments people leave. Don't get upset over them, just strive to be better.
After the beginning, when you start being confident in your review writing and you receive U or SU from people, particularly on discussion type reviews (as this one) you really don't need to be worried, just try to ignore them. I am sure people just go about rating people tightly to spark arguments or upset. If you're writing a review about your favourite colour and your favourite colour is blue, because it reminds you of the ocean, rest assured someone will come along give you a SU and say they don't think blue is like the ocean, they think the ocean is more of a greeny colour.
This is meant to be a fun community with helpful information to educate you when you are thinking about making a purchase or using a service. Just keep that in the back of your mind, and enjoy yourself!
Summary: I heart dooyoo x

- 03/11/09 So far I have found everyone to be nice although I have experienced someone who asked me to go comment on their reveiws as they ahd done on 10 of mine. I don't comment to get people to do it back, I comment and rate because it is what I think about the reveiws.
This helped me though, thank you |
