Advantages: Amazing website!
Disadvantages: £50 Threshold
I absolutely love this website, and I've sort of learnt the ropes, so I'd like to give some advice to newcomers:
DO:
1) Write a review of everything you use- Everything worth mentioning that you've used, whether you want to praise, vent or warn about a certain product or service, come to dooyoo to do just that, dooyoo is generous enough to pay you 50p for the pleasure, plus extra dooyoo miles for people reading your reviews, you're making money and helping people, what could be better?!
2) Make your reviews as lengthly and detailed as possible- Don't just tip 150 words if you can help it, I know I have before and with some products it is hard to go into vast detail, but if you're just writing skimpy reviews because you can't be bothered, put the laptop down, go and have a coffee or tea, have a think and come back to it later, you will feel so much better for writing a better review- promise!
3) Read others, rate others, comment on others!- If there is something you're thinking of buying/doing, search it on dooyoo first to get some honest opinions, or if you just feel like gaining inspiration on what to review next, have a browse, or if you're just interested in brushing up on you review styles and finding new ways to describe things, this can also be very helpful!
DONT!
1) Never, under any circumstances 'cheat'- and by 'cheat' I mean repeat words to thicken out your review to get your miles, set up multiple accounts, advertise your dooyoo on facebook or similar, it just isn't worth it!
The owners of dooyoo want to keep it fair and honest, if you 'cheat' you will get caught and loose all those lovely dooyoo miles you earned!
2) Don't revenge rate- if someone rates your review badly, they'll usually explain, if they don't then send them a PM asking why, don't expect them to change their rating, but take on board what they've said (if its constructive), if they get personal or offensive, contact the dooyoo team and see if they can sort it out, don't just badly rate a person because they have done to you.
3) Be honest- don't claim to have used/done something just because it seems like an easy review to write, it's not big, clever or fair on the people who are taking your opinion seriously on whether to spend their hard earned cash on something!
I hope this has been helpful to new members :)
Happy Reviewing!
Summary: Well worth typing away!

- 12/11/09 Some good tips there. I'm not sure it would be possible to write a worthy review on something you haven't used, watched, read or tasted. |

- 12/11/09 Good review x I think the thing to always remember is that we all hold different opinions x Like Azana thinks we dont need more mc'd and diet coke reviews but the link is there and personally i see no harm in more than a few opinions on anything lol x
I also agree that members seem to prefer longer reviews x I get critised on reviews of about 350 words quite regulary when Ive summerised something well in my opinion! lol x |

- 12/11/09 Some good advice, however I don't agree with 1) - this isn't the place to vent, and also don't write about EVERYTHING you use, just the things you have a strong opinion about - don't think the site needs another 1,000 reviews of diet coke, Mc Donalds or whatever. 2) is true but you don't have to be long for the sake of it, but you are right I think doing your best does feel worth it! |
