Well, I?ve been a member of Dooyoo for quite some time now and so I thought it?s about time that I took this challenge up seeing as so many of you on my COF have already done so. I guess I?m just a bit slow. :-)

This Q&A challenge can help newbies find out what Dooyoo is about and, if many established members participate, what the community is like and will hopefully convince them to stay and become active. To be sure, everything has been said before, but has it had any impact? Only for a limited time until the opinion disappeared from the front page. by presenting the tips on helping new members in the form of a questionnaire which can be done by several members the impact can perhaps be prolonged. Several members, better: many members, to show that many roads lead to Dooyoo.

Please don't take this challenge to ciao without asking MALU, she'd rather decide herself what to do with a text she's written, when to take it there or if at all. Thank you.

Q: When did you join Dooyoo?

A: I joined Dooyoo about a year and a half ago during my first year at uni.

Q: How did you discover Dooyoo?

A: A friend of mine who I went to school with (?hasher? on Dooyoo) came up to visit me at uni and since I had unlimited Internet access there, I let him use it as it was a rainy day outside. He logged onto his Dooyoo account and I was looking over his shoulder to see what the green thing on the screen was and I signed up there and then.
_______________________________

Q: Why did you join?

A: The monetary gain was never an issue as I was told that I take absolutely ages to rack up enough to redeem, however, as a youngster,
I wanted to become a doctor. Then as a teenager, I wanted to become a journalist, however, now I want to work as an editor in the media, (well, I AM studying Film and TV at uni) but journalism still holds in interest for me so Dooyoo is the perfect opportunity to exercise this.

I also like the fact that all the opinions and ratings are provided by real people, people who have experienced the products first hand rather than being written by people who make it sound good purely because it?s their job.
_______________________________

Q: What was your very first opinion on ?

A: I think I wrote about a Playstation 2 game I had recently got as a present from my sister. In hindsight, it?s not really that good, but I got a fair few decent reads on it and this encouraged not to give up.

Q: Did you find it easy to get the hang of Dooyoo?

A: Yes, everything was pretty much self explanatory on there and I found it easy to navigate.
________________________________

Q: Did you read other opinions before you posted your first one?

A: To be perfectly honest, no, I didn?t. I just dived straight in there, but after having written my first two opinions, I realized that I had to go around and read the work of some more established members to get the hang of what I was supposed to be doing. After having read some work from other people and juxtaposing the opinions with comments left by other members, I knew what was expected of me and began writing reviews that people were actually willing to read.
________________________________

Q: Do you write no/some/many comments?

A: I generally only write comments if I have something worth saying, or something amusing about the review that
3;?ve just read. I think I?ve written on average one comment to every four opinions that I have rated.
_______________________________

Q: When you click on the list of Newest Reviews, do you read your friends' opinions no matter what they're on/according to subject no matter who has written on it/preferably the opinions of new writers?

A: I generally don?t keep an eye out for reviews by people on my COF as I get e-mail updates whenever a new op by any of them has been posted. I usually make a point of reading all the new ones on the left navigation bar after logging in each time. If a newbie has written an op, I?ll make a point of reading it and leave a comment to help if I can, hey, we were all there at one point, eh?
________________________________

Q: Do you write your opinions in one sitting?

A: Yes. Like when I write essays, I find it hard to break up something that I?m writing into chunks. If it?s all fresh in my mind, then I think I write better, and the amount of reads I have reflects this.

I?ve tried before to write them over a period of time instead of in one go and I forget things, or I don?t bother to read what I?ve already written and find myself regurgitating some information I?ve already included.
________________________________

Q: How often do you post a new opinion?

A: Well, over the last few months on my summer holidays, I?ve posted up five in the last month (with this being the 6th), however, when I?m at uni, it?s usually about once a month, maybe even less. I?m trying to get into the habit of writing more, but it?s time consuming as I spend so long writing each op.

Usually, I spend anywhere from an hour to maybe even two hours writing an op after I?ve finished a shift at w
ork as I work late and have irregular sleeping patterns.

Q: Do you use a spell check?

A: I?m writing this out in Microsoft Word as we speak. Does that answer your question?

Q: Do you think you can improve your chances to get a crown if you suck up to a guide?

A: Not really, no. The crowns I have received in the past have been a product of hard work and a very descriptive opinion. Though I have a few guides on my COF, I have never kissed any of their arses and have only once asked a Guide for help on a review (and consequently, she helped me obtain a crown, thank you!), without sucking up to her as she offered to help in the first place.

Besides, it?s more rewarding if you get a crown without having to kowtow to anyone.
________________________________

Q: Are you a member of a forum or a chat room?

A: No. Uhm, not really a lot more to say on this subject.
________________________________

Q: Does it get to you when members praise or condemn you?

A: I take it all in my stride and constructive criticism is always welcome. In fact, in a few of my reviews, I have specifically asked people to let me know where I went wrong.

It?s always nice when people say good things about your reviews though. :-) Especially as a newbie, I wrote an opinion on Hong Kong and a Guide e-mailed me to offer lots of praise and say that it was a really good review. Comments like that make it all worthwhile and gives a sense of satisfaction that you may have helped someone out.

Q: What did you do in your spare time before you joined Dooyoo?

A: Socialising (i.e. getting drunk), partying
(i.e. getting drunk), dinner parties (i.e. getting drunk), seeing friends (i.e. getting drunk) and babysitting (i.e. getting drunk) ;-)

Q: What do you wish for the future?

A: If Charlie~Consumer is able to provide a patch to fix the problems with the capital letters, I don?t see why Dooyoo can?t do the same instead of having to rely on Charlie to sort out their mess. Before the capitals needed sorting, there was an annoying bug whereby ? would come out as ? in reviews. If the staff at Dooyoo were able to iron this bug out, why not the capitals?!

Also, the product suggestions take absolutely AGES to process.

Finally, the lack of NEW things to reviews on there is ridiculous. It seems that Dooyoo are behind the times on a lot of their products and need to research what exactly it is that people want and provide sections for us to review them.
