Advantages: High Ranked British Player

Disadvantages: Temper

When Tim Henman made his first Wimbledon appearences 6 years ago, I was delighted at his determenation and hunger for success, but most of all his potential as the next British Wimbledon Champion since Virginia Wade. I followed his sucesses in the newspapers and watched his steady rise up the rankings.

Now I think that the public as a whole envisage Henman as a squeeky clean and very nice chap . True, he is the best ambssador for the sport in Britain for many years but he does have a bad side.
People forget he was the first player to be thrown out of wimbledon 5 years ago because in a temper fit he hit a ball girl with a launched tennis ball ( he wasnt aiming at the girl by the way)
And Last week when he was defeated by Philipousis, he destroyed his Racquet over his foot in annother outburst, and was subsequently fined by the committee. This isn't the best of sportsmanship and prooves him to be a bad looser and poor role model.
Perhaps he knew his dream of winning wimbledon was getting lost forever, I hope not, but do wish to see a less smug Henman back at wimbledon in good form and in good temper ready for the Davis cup.

True, as an old Oxford-ian, upstanding British gent I think we do perhaps expect too much, but I 'like' the outbursts in a way. There's nothing I dislike more than 'in-human' players, like Sampras, who FINALLY showed he has some sort of spirit with his tears after the final.
