Advantages: Might be quick and easy for you - Hope you're Internet aware

Disadvantages: Too many things can go wrong - leaving you totally stranded

Many people already abuse the veil of secrecy that the internet provides. Some use it to try and con people out of money, some use it to harass and stalk, some use it to annoy their competitors. The on-line banks and their customers are an easy target.

The main problems are not the security of the banks, but the security of the customer's computers. Bearing in mind that not all virus checkers are able to pick up all viruses or trojan's every time - you have a serious crack before we start.

Some internet service providers illustrate this problem, they check every e-mail that their customer receives with not one, but THREE, virus checkers. If an on-line bank offers free virus protection how good will it be?

All it takes is one new virus to cripple you and how can you manage your cash? If this is the only account you have - you are sunk!

Then there's the problem of the telephone lines and your internet service provider. What happens if you cannot connect to the internet or your connection "freezes" regularly? The internet almost ground to a halt the night Lady Diana Spencer died - what if it were a business matter that affected you and the internet ground to a halt.

The reliability of the software - If you use Windows software, how many times has a program given unexpected errors and never worked since?

On-line banks may have their place but I wouldn't "Put all my EGGs in one basket".

Some valid points but for all the scaremeongering there has not been ONE single incident of a UK bank being hacked.

David ;-)
