Advantages: none

Disadvantages: too many to list

I had to pay for a couple of my modules while studying for a degree.. at first I thought 'because I am paying for these with my own money, I might work harder'

That was never the case.. I studied in the same way as I did while the tution fees were being paid for by the Local Authority.
So it definitely doesn't make you wanna work harder.

Studying isn't easy and students shouldn't have an extra burden of having to find ways of paying for it.

It is no help that while you are not studying, you are out working to financially support yourself. The free times would be better used to relax and get away from it all.

The poor-rich gap will only grow wider, cos if you are from a poorer family you wont be able to study and aswell as support yourself. So the only option would be to find a job and you'll end up not having further education. Whereas, the rich will be able to study and get themselves a higher paid job.
