History is often seen as people with beards, looking through stuffy books etc. THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!! History is the most interesting subject you are able to do at A level. I've always found history incredibly interesting, as it unlocks the past, which is often amazing, and very informative. The course itself can be customised by the school, with a large number of different topics to be select. Two thirds of the course is gained via examinations, but the other third is gained from coursework. The two topics I did for exams were the rist of facism in Italy, and Germany after the first world war, tojust before the Nazis gained power. Italy may be seen as not as interesting as Germany, and in some ways this is the case, but you get to notice the similarities between the two cultures, and how dictatorship can grow, and what makes great leaders work, or not work. The coursework assignment I was given, was the Nazi Regime, concentrating on the Jewish Holocaust and Economy. This coursework is extremely hard, because there are 60 marks to be gained, and the tiny limit of 2250, which may seem a lot, but trust me is very small by coursework standards. History teaches to write concisely, to argue and evaluate things, and to express your views with evidence etc. It is also highly sort after, as the skills you gain are extremely useful in the modern workplace.
