Advantages: is there any?
Disadvantages: cold and hungry way of life
This is one issue that brings mixed feelings. Firstly I feel sorry for those who are homeless and would help but not with money. I'd sooner buy them some sandwiches or a Macdonalds or anything that was ready-prepared. Secondly I have experience of people who are from wealthy families and are doing it to shock their parents and to rebel. Their words not mine! Some have also been seen at cashpoint machines drawing out money that some of us wouldn't be able to. So doesn't it make you think? There must be other ways that they could get the public to help. The homeless societies could advertise for help (I've not seen any ads so I may be wrong); we could we supplying our old clothes or blankets. It would be a greater help than giving money to those that may spend it on bottles of drink or drugs. I would be happy to do this and I'm sure many others would too. If I'm wrong on that one I'd certainly like some direction on it. I don't mean ads in the Big Issue, I mean local community papers. I do object to illegal immigrants begging on the streets, when they are already abusing our system and using their children for a sympathy vote. They use their children as a decoy so they can pickpocket innocent people who may already have helped them by giving a donation. They are also given a place to stay. There are 'our own' out there that need us so move over! We can't judge these people who are homeless, but we also can't be blamed for being so wary. Too many people have had their fingers burnt and these are the stories that get around, and then everyone stays clear. We also need to educate our children. Not to turn their noses up as I've seen some of them do, but to help in some way. After all they are the future and heaven forbid, they may be like that too if circumstances went in that direction.
